Am taking caravan to Lake Annecy next June/July with partner and will be joined by rest of (v. active) family - at least four 18+ - camping. Would prefer lakeside location and preferably on east side to get evening sun. Have found Chappelle Saint Claude at Talloires but cannot find it listed anywhere else including Michelin. Is it new, too disgusting to be considered by anyone, a figment of the campsites imagination???? Failing that can anyone comment on Le Lac Bleu or La Nubliere at Doussard?

Have stayed at La Nubliere (4 years ago). It was pretty basic but adequate. The toilet blocks could have done with being upgraded/replaced (they may well have been by now) But the location was superb - right on the south shore of the lake - small beach accessable from the campsite. The lakeside road to Annecy gets really busy during high season !

See reviews for Lac Bleu here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6472.      We enjoyed it in June, right on the lake but the road noise is constant, even through the night.   The main part of the site was good but I would not like to be in the annex part.   La Ravoire seems to be the most popular site with the British.

Have stayed at camping Lac Le Bleu a few times now & never tire of the amazing view http://www.camping-lac-bleu.com/gb/. True it doesn't get the evening sun & you have to live with some road noise, but the pitches right next to the lake have million dollar views, along with great views of the crazy parapentes leaping off the opposite mountain ridge.

I have booked 'Chappelle Saint Claude' at Talloires for end July beginning August 2009. Like you say It does not seem to get a mention but having visited Annecy many times we always spend most time around Talloires for easy access to swimming in the lake. We are going via Dunkirk - staying a few nights near Fontainebleau at 'Courtilles du Lido' campsite then Annecy then 'Camping La Colle' at Castellane. If anyone has been to any of these I would love to hear about them.

Chappelle Saint Claude was OK. Very busy of course but the pitch we had was quite large and overlooked the lake. Toilets were modern and always clean. You have to walk through the chalets across the small service road to get to the private waterfront area which is very nice. There is an excellent public beach at Angon just a short walk away which seemed to be used mostly by locals as it is not well signposted and easily missed. We stayed 4 nights before moving onto Camping La Colle' at Castellane which was great. Nothing for children but un-obstructed views of the mountains. Can get chilly at night. Lovely lakeside beach not far away. Pitchs 27 - 35 seemed to be the best.
