Hallo' palaceboy, wish i was coming as well, never mind, well as for routes we are all different ie, requirements and so forth, but i would say west of France using major roads instead of paying tolls, all the way down to Bayonne, now i'm not going into details of road no. because i'm sure you must have decent maps or maybe even Autoroute. Then Burgos to Madrid and all the way down to Granada, from there to Guadix and follow to Almeria. As for campsites on way do a google search i do not mind stopping at service areas, as long as i feel safe, if not move on. I'm sure that other people might comeback with more details and so forth. In the end the choice is yours, as matter of fact i do have most if not all of the campsites and aires in my Tom tom, but alas at this time of year its knowing wich ones are open, you can also find some info on this forumie. camp site search give a try.If by any chance the pound improves against the euro, then i will join you, some friends have already gone to mountpark campsite near Malaga and begging me to join them. We just don't know what to do?

We are going from Calais to La Manga starting with the ferry on Feb 1 and our route is as follows:
Calais to Forest View ( English owned site near Remalard 226 miles
Forest View to Camping Beausoliel near Bordeaux 315 miles
Camping Beausoliel to De Haro 240 miles
De Haro to Arunjeuz 232 miles
Arunjeuz to La Manga 264 miles
Some of these sites are in the Winter Sun book from the Camping and Caravan Club
and the others can be found on the excellent ASCI DVD which shows quite a few sites that are open all year.

hi placeboy
the acsi card with site book and map are excelant
but the dvd was essential as it shows a lot more sites they recomend but you dont get the reduced fees if you have a laptop with you it is easy to find site that are open all year in the aera you are heading for
or if you are on desktop at home plan your route and note sites open enroute
we are traveling down that way early feb 4/6 weeks will go down central france and down the coast towards alicante and return via west coast in the hope the weather will be beter then
