Hi Bridie,

can highly recommend Poinsouze. We stayed in a rented mobile there about 5 years ago. Its in the middle of no where (my OH calls it the site in a field in the middle of France). The pitches are large, unusually for France there arent any hedges seperating the pitches so it has an open aspect. It has a large lake on site and great pool which is next to the chateau a couple of minutes walk frm the pitches. The sanitary facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen on a campsite.

We have driven past Peyrelade (hoping to go back to the area but stay at nearby Les Peupliers) the pool can be seen from the road so I dont know if the pitches would experience road noise. The whole area is stunning and a visit to Peyrelade castle is a must.

Cant help with Les Bois du Bardelot but I think ValA has stayed there so will be able to help you later.

Hi we stayed at Les Bois du Bardelot for 7 nights - lovely site, very spacious, lake, outdoor and indoor pools, evening entertainment - takeaway - no village etc within walking distance but Gien is only 5 mins drive or you could bike.

We've been several times to Bois du Bardelet - and I agree with all the above comments but would add that it's got a restaurant with good views over the lake, and there are plenty of organised activities for youngsters - though in June it won't be a noisy site - in fact may be quite quiet.  There are some very spacious pitches at one end of the site - and there's an indoor 'play-pool' for the little ones.  Twice we've tried the take-away - and aren't willing to risk a third but that's the only downside.

Supermarkets in Gien, with plenty going on and lots of riverside restaurants.  The site accepts Camping Cheques, so possibly a cheaper price than normal site tariff?

We've only seen Peyrelade from the road and the river - it's in a fairly steep bit of the Tarn valley - and may suffer from short hours of sunshine (but that's only speculation) - it's nicely situated, with a large river beach.

Thanks for all that. Will discuss with OH. Also looking at La Ribeyre below Clermont Ferond?
