There is (or used to be) a comparatively cheap site in Mayo, right on the main road under Croagh Patrick, perfectly acceptable. Don't go to the site in Westport, the price is ridiculous! There is also a cheapish site near Glegarriff, Co. Cork right next to an expensive one. Sorry, can't remember the names. Personally I would give Killarney a miss unless expensive over done tourism is your thing, much better imo to stay at Tralee for a night or two and then go round the Ring of Kerry anticlockwise, i.e. from the north, to avoid the overhanging rocks! You could stay at Mannix Point and Wavecrest, both good sites. The Dingle area is also well worth seeing.
You could of course go to Northern Ireland as suggested above, and visit Donegal from there which is beautiful, only not so green and lush as further south.

Eagle Point at Ballylicky which is just north of Bantry is a beautiful site.
Flemmings White Bridge at Killarney is also A1 in all respects
And for when you go up to County Mayo, it would have to be Knock Caravan Park for me, this must be the cleanest site that I have ever seen.
I would also suggest a night at Camac Park, Dublin, for the night before you get the ferry, that is of course if you are sailing from one of the two Dublin ports
I do not know if they are still bookable through the Caravan Club.
