I am about to book the ferry for our holiday to France and I have seen a couple of posts about Sea France being in trouble so I am a little worried about booking with them. We have been on Sea France for several years and the price has always been the best. This year we are taking our caravan in July. Anyone got any suggestions or know of any good deals?

I hope their not in trouble, myself and our friends have just booked with them for our trip to the South of France in July !!!

Why take a chance? you will probabley get as good a price with Norfolk Line anyway.

Seeing that every man and his dog is going to the wall this is excellent advice. I would surprised to see the French Government intervene to save them

I have no idea whether the French government will bail them out or not ... on the one hand the French unions are very proactive over jobs and wages ... on the other hand this so called 'credit crunch' is outwith most of our experience ...

in your position I would not book with them but I am by nature cautious, one of the reasons why I'm not rich (or destitute) right now!

We tried Norfolkline, £5 cheaper but their sailings are starting to get full up and there's not so much choice -----  and it's only January, recession, what recession !!!!

The point is not who you book with but how you book use a credit card then if the company goes bust you are covered. In times like this any company can go to the wall at any time even big companys. This also applys to paying for deposits ect., cover yourselves.

Hi,

Whilst a credit card booking safe guards your money it doesn't sail you to France! Had a similar problem a couple of years ago when going to Spain, the operator I was booked with pulled off the route, giving a full refund but leaving me only one option of an alternative ferry which was hugely expensive and at an convenient time.

Play it safe and have a good holiday!
