I'm going to France at the end of March. We go to a site with a fishing lake. The lake is full of carp. I'm a pike fisherman really so I'm wondering if anyone can give me any tips on carp fishing in France. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Thanks Neil

I try to catch carp. Its a bit like pike fishing, you put out your bait and wait. Best to look on a few carp fishing web sites to get a good idea an what is the best way to catch carp. hope that helps.
The french way of fishing is crude!! big baits ,thick line line ..rods like beachcasters etc ...at a guess the best thing to do is cast near a tree/island or something different in the lake.. use a 16mm boilie size 6 or 8 hook, 10 lb line and 1.5 oz pear lead ,ledger on a hair and throw or catapult boiles around where your hook is and have a landingnet of at least 38 in diameter (just in case) , you still may not catch anything but hey your in france on holiday!!!

My hubby not been into fishing before but last year he borrowed some basic stuff off my son, and fished every day, as there was a lake on the castels site we stayed on (loire) Now hes buying alsorts of stuff, most camping shops sell fishing stuff too, so its a good excuse for me to drag him along! He mostly caught cat fish but it kept him happy!
Prob best to ask for some advice in fishing shop, think you need different hooks and that for carp?
