Just had our 2009 deals brochure from Tescos.
It appears they no longer support ferries to the continent only the Euro Tunnel.

Could be a blow to all those wanting to travel to France and don't like the tunnel. Also it is more expensive so will need more vouchers!

Only Ferries Listed Now are:-
P&0 Irish Sea - Ireland

Irish Ferries - Ireland

Wightlink - Isle of Wight

Stena Line - Ireland - Hook of Holland

We used to use them on North Sea Ferries but have been unable to do so since 2007. Now we have the haul to the Tunnel to contend with.

Hope Tesco/PandO and Stena don't take the Irish Sea crossings away from us or we will never be able to get to France as the Irish Sea crossings are exhorbitant prices.

You could - you just have to try to use your Tesco deals to save money on something else that you would be buying anyway and then use the money saved on that to pay for your ferries.

I am extremely grateful that Tesco still do the Tunnel. I just don't understand the economics of it but hope they carry on.

I convert the Tesco vouchers into Airmiles then use them to pay for the ferry. Airmiles deals with P&O and Brittany Ferries. So I tend to mix and match   out on TML from Dover and back by Brittany ferries from Cherbourg. Without the airmiles I would travelling both ways on TML on cost grounds alone

Agree with David - re Tesco and the Tunnel.  Each time they publish a new deals catalogue the first thing I do is look to see if they are still doing the tunnel.  We have done so many crossings with Tesco Deals, also Haven holidays for a short break here in the UK, but see they have now stopped,

also Pontins.  Think they may be hoping for big things this year and hoping people will stay in the UK, due to the pound.

I for one will still go to France but will just have to cut back a bit.  So long live Tesco

Deals on the Tunnel

Hi David

We use Brittany Ferries but didn't know about being able to use airmiles with them. I know you can convert clubcard vouchers into airmiles, but how does it work out the cost? We have already booked Plymouth Roscoff for July, but noticed you have also done Portsmouth Cherbourg with airmiles. How much did it cost in airmiles? (if you don't mind me asking!)

Thanks
Gary

Hello Gary

The exchange rate is 1000 airmiles is £60 off the ferry price with Brittany ferries which when you work out the conversion from vouchers to airmiles is not bad.

Hi davidp25, we also covert our airmiles to use with Brittany Ferries and have done so for several years. We live 10 mins from the ferry terminal at Portsmouth. We normally do Portsmouth-Caen, however this year we're planning Portsmouth-St Malo. I know the conversion isn't as great as the Tunnel deal, but we seem to collect so many airmiles over the year, so we still make use of the days out/restaurant schemes on Clubcard deals too.

I just wish Brittany Ferries would form a partnership with Tesco Clubcard Deals!

We've got our Tesco points for a tunnel crossing but still can't book anything due to hubby's work schedule this summer and also eldest daughter's GCSE results being out at 27th August! We had said no to France this year because of above but we are so going to miss France! I envy all you who have booked to go.
