Actually it's not "Leper", but "Ieper" (starts with a capital I), though I must admit that that is how it looks on the signposts, which are inevitably written in a sans-serif font. I suppose the Belgians pronounce it "ee-per", which is not too far from the more familiar French pronunciation than we are used to.
I am sure you know about the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres, every evening at 8pm. Get there in good time (it's just off the main square), and take plenty of hankies.
