I normally book our summer holiday independently (contact the sites direct and book a ferry).

I'm thinking this year of perhaps doing it through the Caravan club or Alan Rogers (2 weeks in the Vendee). Has anyone done it this way and does it have any advantages/disadvantages? (is it cheaper?!).

CC is quite cheap this year as they have fixed deals at €1.30 to £1.

CC is certainly cheaper than booking direct

Looking at going out on 25th July for 2 weeks.

Thinking of the Loire Valley now - keep changing my mind but definately going to France!

Best thing to do is the cost the two options. Have booked with the Caravan Club many times.

We have booked ferry through Camping and caravan club, and campsite through Caravan club, its better as actually cheaper this year than going direct to the site, also at least its all paid for before we go, so any money we take on hols is for spending, always forget we need to pay the balance when we leave the site!

Hi - can someone confirm if I can book a pitch via the caravan club for a tent?  It seem very clear if you have to own a caravan to book a pitch.

We booked ferry and 3 sites through CC as they worked out far cheaper than booking direct this year.  We are travelling on the 25th July for a 3 week hol cant wait!

rkerse01 - why not ring them and ask?  If they say not, then at least you'll know - and if they say OK then you'll probably get your pitch cheaper.

Have just booked Bien Assise near Calais through C&CC. £18.50 a night. Cost booking direct through the campsite website would have been 47 euros.

We have booked Vilanova spain through the CC in July and it was much cheaper than booking direct.

Howevere the CC could not match P & O direct on the Portsmouth Biloa crossing.
