Not splitting hairs here Geoff but I assume you mean do they accept Euros, not except!

If so, yes they do accept euros apparently although I would imagine it would be prudent to carry Swiss francs too, ATMs dispense them with a normal bank cashpoint card.

Not as a general rule. Service Stations near EU borders might and you can pay in Euros to use the Kandersteg Tunnel.

 Hi Geoffnet, Snowy747 asked me to pop on this thread to help you as I live in Switzerland.

Where will you be going? As a general rule the only places that will accept Euros are towns and cities that are close to the borders. Normally they will only take paper monies ( no coins) and will give you the change in Swiss Francs. Also, the exchange rate can leave alot to be desired.

There are no hard and fast rules about this, it is up to each shop/service that you go to. I have noticed in the time I have lived here that fewer and fewer are willing to take Euros.

My advice would be to bring along enough Swiss Francs and not to assume that you will get by on just Euros.

I sadly can only echo what the other posters have said.

We tend to stay on the border, as some tourist attractions will take € as payment, and tend to have a notice on their website/ as you enter the attraction.

The rate you get does tend to be poor.

Easy enough to get cash out of a cash point though.

I never know how many Francs to get, as we tend to spend €, and it is always a balancing act. Last year I had just enough, and almost got "caught short" at the motorway services when we had to pay for the toilets. Year before I took too many. Maybe this year I will get it just right!!
