I found this on Denmark, not sure if it is any help to you. Have a great holiday when you go.

I have fond memories of camping in Denmark a few years ago, but I can't really think of any advice, so I'll just add some random remarks.

The coins are funny shaped; the food and (in supermarkets) drink isn't as expensive as you might think; the newspaper Information is only available in the larger towns (which annoyed me a bit, but what can you do); Donald Duck comics, on the other hand, are available almost everywhere; people in the countryside don't always speak English; Copenhagen is just another provincial capital like Oslo or Amsterdam (none of which are to my taste); the statue of the Little Mermaid is very definitely not worth the bother; Tuborg and Carlsberg biers are actually made by the same company these days; the herrings are well worth the trouble.

We camped on a tiny site on Fyn where enormous dragonflies flew around in the afternoon and bats flew around in the twilight (after 9pm), and I discovered that I really did like camping after all (it was my first trip).

I would check if the campsites are open in Denmark in early May, Google 'Denmark camping' & go from there.

I used to go there in my truck, English is widely spoken & its very cycle friendly, cycle tracks & stuff but I doubt it will be very warm when you go.

I would expect it to be similar weather there to here.

Many sites will open around the beginning of April, and the rest at the beginning of May.

I don't know whether it is still the case but.....

a Camping Carnet (CCI) is/used to be compulsory.

It is/was available to buy at individual campsites, but I'm not sure as to the cost when purchased in Denmark.

You can buy one in the UK (and you might then get decent discounts off your Danish pitch fee), but as it has 3rd party insurance attached the FSA have regulated it, so difficult (impossible*) to obtain freestanding.

VB

* If anyone knows different I'd be grateful. Camping Carnet (CCI) Camping Carnet (CCI)

We visited Denmark last May and were so impressed that we are going back again this May !  We made the mistake last year of using the Dover - Dunkerque ferry and driving to Denmark via France/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany - a horrendous experience !! This year we have booked Harwich to Esbjerg which, when taking into account the saving in fuel and stopovers wasn't that much more expensive.

We stayed in South West Jutland last year at a site caller Arrild - Fierby which was about 20 miles from Ribe. When we arrived the site owner asked us if we were staying there for the duration or if we intended using other sites - when we told her we would be staying for the duration she said "Ah - you have left your carnet at home - haven't you ?" (nodding as she said so!) so we didn't have to buy one.

As stated in previous posts we found prices generally on a par with those at home - the only really expensive thing was eating out and/'or going for a drink.

We found the people to be among the friendliest and most helpful we have come across anywhere and almost all of them spoke English !

We submitted a review but for some reason it has never been posted.
