We're considering staying on this campsite in the summer and we were wondering if anyone has been there.  I've read contrasting claims regarding how far away from the town centre it is - is the campsite area of the park within a 20mins walk of the ton centre and does ot have a noisy disco (we have a 11mth old baby)?  ANy reviews or observations greatly received.

Went there a couple of years ago, campsite was adequate, but nothing special.

I would not say it was within walking distance from the city centre, and parking in Anger can be a real pain in the bum.

Presume you have followed the link above. Our last visit was in 2007, but have used the site several times. If your only offspring is 11 mths then i would be a bit iffy perhaps. The site is more tuned to young children and teenagers. Paricularly in high season, there are some centres des vacances which are tented villages for school kids to go as a party, and whenever we have encountered them, the teachers have kept the kids in very good order, nonetheless you do get a fair bit of excited noise, particularly if you re pitch is anywhere near theirs.

The parc is brilliant, with loads of activities, but again not much use to an 11 mth old.

We have never attempted the walk into town, I suspect there may be a pedestrian route, but Angers is a big commercial city, and the route to the camping is via a virtual motorway which passes through the town centre, and crosses the river. It would n't be my choice for a pleasant stroll.

On the other hand, the area round about is lovely to see, Angers is well worth a visit, you have access to the LOire to the west of Angers which is particularly attractive, and well worth the effort to make a visit. Just would not think it is the most suitable site with the little one if you are at all concerned about distrubance,

FM

We found Angers itself horrendously busy, and much preferred the quieter Saumur and the villages around there like Doue la Fontaine.

Look at Camping De L'Etang at Brissac, lovely site that caters for young children very well.

Totally agree with the above site suggestion. we went 4 or 5 times when the children were young.

If you want to visit Angers (or any French town/city) we would suggest going on a Sunday - the shops may not be open but the tourist attractions are and the city traffic is much quieter and parking is easier and free! Then if you want to go back at least you've got your bearings/had a trial run at finding a car park.

Maybe it depends on what time of year you go as far as noise etc is concerned. We stayed there for a week last year in late June, it wasn't noisy at all. We found the site to be very clean. Pitches were varying sizes from quite small to absolutely huge! It seemed to us that they try and group all the Brits together in one area of the site. When we arrived we were given a map and told to choose our pitch from those available in one particular area which we did. Went back to reception to tell them our pitch number only to be told we couldn't have that one as it was booked from the next day! Anyway, we ended up choosing a pitch in the "non Brit" area which was fine by us. There is a small bar which does takeaway pizzas & a smallish but nice enough pool. I wouldn't say it's in walking distance of Angers but there is a bus into town which stops a couple of minutes walk from the site entrance. Although the site is surrounded by trees and is relatively quiet, it was a little too "urban" for our taste. Did visit Brissac-Quince and thought it was lovely, that would be our choice if we return to the area.
