Hi, we first went to France early in the year three years ago(previously it was always August/Sept) started first year 2nd week in April, found it a tad chilly & only just warming up in the south, the next year we tried the end of April, not much better, last year we went the second week in May and it was okay, in the north and as far down as Lyon it was still a bit cool at night, but the further we went south the better it got, this year we are leaving on the 16th May for a month, going all the way down to Spain and as far as Alicante, you definitely need your sweater at night, the benefits are that you can use the ACSI book and the sites are nice and empty, we really enjoy going around that time of year, meet some really nice people.
