Hi there, we are looking for a campsite in the Vendee, which is small and relaxed for us oldies but big enough to entertain 5 kids (9 to 14 years) with some cycle tracks for extra freedom. Can't seem to find anywhere except for large seaside resorts. Am I looking in the wrong area? Any recommendations most welcome. thanks.

We stayed here a couple of years agon and really enjoyed it. Slightly back from the coast but a 10 minute drive to the coast and the not far from St Gilles. www.lepong.com
Have a look at any of the sites around St Julien des Landes ie. La Garangeoire, Domaine de la Foret or La Guyonniere. We stayed at Domaine de la Foret for two years running and loved it as it was about 15 mins inland so far less hectic than the beachside resorts yet near enough to just pop to the sea for the afternoon. Big pitches, loads of space for the kids, lovely family site. Would highly recommend it.

For the last 3 years, we have gone to Le Pin Parasol. A family run site and the owners cant do enough for you. About 15 minutes from the coast and 5 minutes from the nearest village. Going there this summer again lol.
We also liked Pin Parasol, but have to say there was not a lot for teenagers to do that is why we are going to the south this year to an all singing all dancing site (not quite our idea of a holiday but when you have 16 and 14 year olds needs must). Pin Parasol has good swimming pools and plenty going on for younger children. We will return.
We never see our lads aged last year 14 and 17 years. We had to drag our lads back from the pool, multi sports pitch or ping pong. They have made very good Dutch friends over the last 3 years, which is why we are going back. We find the site so relaxing.
We had the all singing, dancing site last year, after Le Pin. What a shock lol

Time to say goodbye

It should still be busy but not packed. And you will have the pool all to yourself lol.
