yes we had dealings with that company Feux Verts.

at Val A and Pager...

That lot have re-emerged under a new name. The courier at Berny this Easter looked really under pressure - and the fleet that is left on there looked like scrap. I'm surprised the site owners haven't turfed them yet.

We stayed with them once and the courier insisted on "doing the rounds" and checking in to every mobile TWICE a day. I eventually (very politely) told her that we were fine and not to bother in future (after she left us a "religious" leaflet in the van!!!). Nightmare.

FV - can you possibly email the new name?  I've googled the original name, and it doesn't come up with any suggestions - just several more complaints from dissatisfied customers.  If my son doesn't get an offer from Canvas, then I'd hate him to apply to this company again under it's new name - particularly as there was lots of acrimony even after he returned home - and quite nasty phone calls from the company concerned!  My email address is ...........(replacing the second at with the normal sign).  Very many thanks.

I am suprised folk still use Keycamp/Eurocamp etc, back in the 70's I did use Eurosites, but since the net came along I book direct with independant static owners, in fact when comparing prices, I seem to remember Keycamp being around £1600 for a fortnight at Camping du Pylon down at Biot between Antibes and Nice, mid July, that did include the Dover Calais crossing, by booking direct with the static owner I paid £800 for the static and about £100 for the Ferry, a saving of around £700 for the same type accomadation at the same site at the same time of year, a total no brainer, with the added bonus of no reps!. although our Son 18 at the time did spend a fair bit of time with one of the girl reps, helping her with her English he told us, we later found out she came from Sheffield!.

do you have any web addresses that will put me touch with owners  of statics in south of france

Hi Kenny - most French campsites offer their own mobile homes, as well as those through Eurocamp etc - and the prices for the site-owned accommodation is often a lot less than those booked through the Tour Operators.  Do you have a particular site in mind that you want to stay on?  If so the campsite website may offer details of other types of accommodation, apart from camping pitches.

There is a poster, regularly, on these forums Mandywrexsam, who has a static at a site Holiday Green near Frejus - and she rents it privately.  I'm sure she will be able to give you other websites to have a look at because she must advertise elsewhere.

Thou' we would never go with keycamp/eurocamp in high season-we take the trailer tent-it is well worth going with them in low season. Direct booking campsite mobiles is still more expensive, especially with the present exchange rate, & adding in your crossing. We have just had 4 nights at Domaine de Drancourt with Keycamp in a villanova with decking for £64.We choose to go on Eurotunnel so had to pay a supplement but a ferry was included. We had no problems (& a beautiful 4 days) but have had previous complaints, though not bad enough to stop us using them.

Don't disagree with you Fiona - I think the thread highlights the fact that there are some really great couriers / clean vans etc. however there are also some really poor ones. Perhaps it's the inconsistency that is more of an issue?

Yes, its true they are inconsistent in their standards: I guess we have been lucky enough not to have a really poor experience. As mentioned previously, more 'mature' reps appear to have aquired a better reputation. My brother & his family go every year with 'al fresco'. They have always had a mature couple as couriers & have had no issues. Maybe more supervision by 'mature' site/area managers might help?

Hi Mr UM -  It does look terrible, but I think there are a few issues here.  What time of year was it?  Was it at the beginning of the season before clients had started to arrive?.  Was it at the end of the season and campsite beginning to close down?  Was it being used as a courier store tent.  I can see the couriers trolley was outside, which suggests to me they were working on it or going to.   Or had clients left it in this state, which I have seen before.

Its unbelievable how some people leave the accommodation., thinking someone else can clear up their mess.

Before clients arrive the accommodation is prepared and everything should be cleaned including sweeping the leaves off the roof, and cleaning the windows.  If this tent was left like this and clients were due, then I think it is disgusting and the couriers and area manager should be taken to task

Hi,

It was mid season but I believe it was one of the "workers" tents. Either way it did not present a very good image.

Mr UM
