Camping leas Romarins, Eze, Cote d'azure

Hi folks,

I have been directed to this site for the spectacular views and scenery ( going in July on honeymoon) However I have just stumbled on a review by someone who stayed there last year. They have done a demolition job on it. Basically said it was awful and very expensive!

Does anyone have experience of this site as I would hate to judge it on one bad review. Having said that I have made a provisional booking already and am due to pay a deposit soon so I am a bit twitchy!!!

Any help will be appreciated.

Neil.

Seems very expensive just for a view. Google- Reviews camping les romarins, eze.     There are so many lovely campsites I think I would go for a better site.

Do you really want to be on top of other tents on your honeymoon?

Thanks Marz, would ideally like a bit of space, have looked at camping de la ferme ( we like rustic) but seems difficult to get info, many websites look "corporate" if you get my drift...

thanks again.

Neil - have you looked at the http://www.bienvenue-a-la-ferme.com/en/ website?  You can select the 'Department' (area) you wish to stay in, then in the accommodation bit select 'Camping' and all the sites in the area are then shown as pins, with links to more information and/or websites.

The www.campingfrance.com website also allows you to select farm campsites and again gives links to websites and/or more details.

Shame about the reviews for Les Romarins, - it does look a lovely site if a 'little' crowded!

Hi Neil

I posted the review of Camping les Romarins - we stayed last year - as I said in my review there were 6 tents on the pitch next to us and they didnt know each other - we had lent our stove to a young couple as their gaz didnt fit their burner and she said that it had been crazy for the time they had been there - 4 days - and had paid more than they had been quoted as well but I cant remember how much - we also paid a deposit but as it was in sterling they couldnt cash it and in fact didn't charge for the cancelled booking. I was disappointed to say the least at having to uproot but we did feel that other than the view it had nothing else going for it. It was right under the road with a pitch right under the wall of the road! If a car had hit the wall it would have killed the occupants no doubt. There was a pitch within the space between the loo block and the pathway - it had no view at all. We thought that it was in fact good for one or a couple of nights in a small tent if you had everything with you as it is a drive to everywhere if not. The road was noisy all night. We like sites that are not organised as in loads of facilities, clean loos/showers are enought for us. Fave campsites include Treen near Porthcurno in Cornwall and Brewers Bay in the British Virgin Islands. I have camped my whole life and prefer it to hotels. I have reread the review I put on trip advisor and it is harsh but it was true of the time we were there. My husband is French and the owner of the camp was totally unpreturbed that we were leaving! I have worked in the service industry nearly the whole of my working life and as a hotel ass manager for 13 years and would have lost my job if I had such a laise faire attitude.

Thanks for your message (hope I did not offend at the beginning)

Your review has made me consider the overall area around Les Marins not just the site! I tried to find other reviews about the site to see if your experience was a one -off ( hence the original message) but without luck (did actually find one from a travel reporter but it was written in a way that made me think the person had not actually visited the site!) But as it is our honeymoon I would be daft to ignore your review when there are so many other places to try.

Our idea of a good site seems to be the same as yours, so having discussed it with the "boss" we decided to look elsewhere and have found a vineyard to camp at 100mtrs from the beach. So I cancelled my booking and we are headed off there instead!

Thanks again. Neil.

No offence taken Neil - glad you are sorted. We eventually moved up to the Verdon Gorges at Castellane. on our first night of what we thought would be peace and quiet at last there was a terrible accident on the gorge road and 3 young lads were killed walking home to their camp - it was like a scene from a bad dream, helicopters flying around all night, amblance sirens etc- trees bending in the down draught. From there up to Lac du Paladru - very good site can't remember name - then Troyes and home to the Lake District. Have a great honeymoon!
