We are catching ferry from Portsmouth-Cherbourg in Aug.  We want to stay near Mont St Michel.  Any one any ideas?  We like to be near the beach.  We thought of Domaine de la Ville Huchet.

By the way, cheap ferry.  Condor Ferries are doing free caravans on Sundays.  It's costing us a little bit more than going from Dover.

Camping Haliotis, 9km from Mont St Michel - and takes Camping Cheques from 22 August.  It always gets good write ups and lots of good mentions on this website as well as others.

sorry to hijack the thread, where are you off to then swanseajack? is it Barbanne? I remember you talking about SW France. Are you staying on the one site for the whole trip?

Two weeks at Barbanne booked. We then have another 10 nights to kill. Where? depends on the weather.

We wanted a site pretty close to the Mont, as we have a motorhome and wanted to be able to walk there. We found Camping du Mont St Michel, which was within walking distance. This was in May 2007. Cost then was €14.50 per night without EHU, it was €2.70 for EHU, but we don't bother with that for just a couple of nights.
You turn right out of the site, walk up to the main road, just a few yards, then right again and the Mont is in front of you, about a mile perhaps.
Site was pretty good, facilities very clean and secure. When we left we saw that there was an Aire de Campingcars opposite the site, but don't know how much that was.
Website HERE looks like the prices are still the same as they were 2 years ago, unless they haven't been updated!
