You need Freeby for this one and I think he's just gone to bed. If I catch him later I'll point him in your direction. :)

We got back today from Andijk which is North Holland and not too far from Amsterdam

We briefly saw Enkhuizen and that is a really nice place.

You might also want to consider Ijmuiden aan zee which is on the west coast

Den Helder has the most hours of sun anywhere in Holland so could be a good place and if you dont mind getting a ferry then you could try Texel which is on one of the Wadden islands (I think that is what they are called lol. On the map go north of Amsterdam until you get to the water then up and east a little )

Man I am so good at geography lol

The site we went to this weekend I wouldnt recommend as they allow groups of teenagers who run riot and there was a competition in the caravans to see who could have their TV the loudest but North Holland is beautifull and once over the dijk, take your pick of nice towns and beautiful countryside :)

If you dont mind a bit of a drive and are not looking for a countryside, silent site then Beekse bergen is fab. It is a safari park with a campsite and a play area with a huge water slide etc.

You get a free pass into the safari park, play area and an amazing swimming complex around 30 min drive from the site.

We went last year and loved it but as I said before, not the most peaceful site so if that is something you really want then Beekse bergen is not for you.

If this does interest you then you will have to use babelfish as the site is in Dutch or email them for information in English

Or if you need translation then I can do that if you tell me what you want to know

We stayed at Camping Warnsborn near Arnhem almost 3 years ago now, it was a lovely quiet campsite with lovely owners
We really like the Arnhem area especially the Hoge Veluwe and the Openair Museum and have visited the area lots of times since (we quite often get a 'minicruise' from Hull-Rotterdam two nights on the boat one full day there, we head to Arnhem do shopping in the morning and either the Hoge Veluwe or the Openair museum in the afternoon before returning to boat for overnight journey back. Works out good value when P&O do the 'buy one get one free' offer) and we've also been to the Netherlands for our family holidays for the past three Easters so you could say we like it there
Arnhem itself is a nice town with good shops, nice outdoor cafes and a great place to buy giant stroopwaffels

We just stopped 9 nights over the recent Dutch holiday period at Flevonatuur nice site with large indoor pool & quite central, the area is very rural & pleasant & its funny to think its all man made & not natural scenery, in fact Flevoland was under about 3mtres of water until it was drained in the 70s.

God made the world but we made Holland, as the Dutch say.

There are lots of nice campsites in Holland. My advice is first to decide which region you'd like to visit and then have a look on the internet or contact the local tourist information (called VVV) to find a campsite that suits you.

If you have any questions about specific regions please ask, I've practically camped everywhere in Holland.

Marieke have you stayed at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=7951

Please say yes and it was a good site, just had to cancel one site because of poor reviews and small pitch sizes.

Hi Rochford,

No unfortunately I haven't. But the site says there pitch sizes are 80m2 which isn't very small I think. But if you want to pitch a pyramid it's usefull to have a pitch size of 100m2.

You can always ask if they've got a large pitch available for you.

Are you specifically looking for a camping in the Randstad? I think it's difficult to find a campsite with large pitches because space is very valuable there. If I were you I'd go to the Veluwe or De Achterhoek, much nicer!

Marieke - thanks for the reply, I spoke to Koningshof earlier about pitch sizes and told them the size of our outwell and although they commented that it was a big tent they told me that they would have no problem with it.

We may use the pyramid but will wait until nearer the time to decide.

The only reason we are looking to stay that side of holland is that we have to drop of MIL at schipol on a Sunday afternoon so do not want to be travelling too much to get to camp for the start of our Holiday.
