Some ideas:
St Malo.
The neighbourhoud of Huelgoat and the 'Broceliante Wood' (King Arthurs legend, here he was educated by Merlin). There is an extremely old Gaul Fortyress on the mountaintop. Actually, the whole mountaintop IS the Gaul fortress. It still is totally surrounded by the old earth walls. It originally was destined for some thousands of soldiers.
And if you are there, just see the 'roche tremblante', e huge rock that you can start rocking if you push at the right spot.
Carnac, its the 'alignements' of thousands of standing stones. Take the slightly smaller site, where you can have a guided walk on one of the sites. The larger ones use littles trains.
If you are interested in modern history you will find several huge bunker-complexes, also heavily shot at during the time of the Normandy landings.
Lorient has the huge submarine bunkers, which can be visited.
Buy the Michelin guide and you may find a lot more.
Have fun.
