Hi all, we are thinking of booking Le Port De Limeuil for one week in August (from 14th then off to Millau/tarn area for another week). We went to le Capeyrou (Beynac) last year (mid july) which was lovely, but I have a feeling that Beynac and that road generally will be chaos in August and fancy somewhere different.

I am just looking for some advice really, we are a couple (no kids) wanting somewhere pretty, where we can go sightseeing, where partner can fish nearby, quiet(ish) (tall order I know in August) - do you think Le Port De Limeuil ticks these boxes, if yes - which pitches can you recommend - we don't need electic. If not - can you recommend anywhere else?

Thanks so much for any feedback - i seem to be incapable of making the final decision at the moment!!

We have stayed there once a few years ago. We liked it, but only stayed 3 nights, as we usually tour round and never stay anywhere longer than about 4 nights or so.

But there have been threads previously on this website, and if you do a search and input the name of the site, there are 3 threads HERE.

Enjoy reading them!

Thanks for that Ina, I have had a look at them now and it does look promising - getting very excited now even though it's still such a long way off.

Even in August Limeuil is a quiet site especially in the evening.

There are some nice pitches which face onto the central camping field pitches 75 to 78.

I found the site very laid back with a few tour operators on site. Take a torch as it is very dark at night.

All in all the site is well maintained and clean. There are some really nice bars ,restaraunts in the village a short stroll away

You're very welcome.
Well, August is not really all that far off, you know. And I don't know about you, but I get a lot of fun out of planning beforehand.
Port de Limeuil is a nice campsite, I'm sure you'll like it. It is not as crowded as some of the others. When we were there, we had a pitch overlooking the river, saying that, it wasn't right by the river, but there is a very broad strip of grass between those pitches and the river. When we were there, there was a mother duck with little ones, and she kept bringing them round all the pitches at regular intervals, funny the things you remember from sites, isn't it?
Thinking about it, that site now also accepts the ACSI card, have a look at the site HERE.
I thought you may be able to use the ACSI card, but they only accept it again from the 28th of August, and you're going on the 14th, shame, ah well, it was worth having a look.
Have a good time when you go!

It is a lovely site in a beautiful position, but a couple of years back, when we tried to book a return visit, we were told they  accepted only family groups in the summer period. Like you, we were a couple, so we had to look elsewhere. This policy may not still apply, but it is worth checking.

Hi Claire R

Thinking of going to Le Capeyrou this summer with two small boys, possibly in a Royal Bordeaux SG or ZG.  Would you recommend???

My sister recommended this website as a good source of info..

Hi Trix, le Capeyrou was a lovely site, right on the banks of the dordogne and just a stoll into beynac village - well lcoated for the Dordogne's touristy spots. We had a pitch that backed onto the river which was seperated from the campsite by a footpath. We found it nice and quiet with something (food or music) on at the bar a couple of nights a week - pool looked lovely though we did not use it - looked great fun for the kids. Sure your two would enjoy it.
