As far as I know you just need the electric hookup and an adaptor - that's what we will be taking. That said, I'm a new camper who is taking their first camping trip this summer to France, so I'm not an expert and might have got it wrong!
Take an adaptor and a screwdriver. Our adaptor needed 'modifying' to fit and wandering around looking for a screwdriver in the hypermarche wasn't a laugh. It took less than a minute to sort out, when we finally got a screwdriver!!!
We vowed the next time we'd take our adapted adaptor and a regular one too!
Just go to your nearest caravan shop or to Halfords & ask for a 'French EHU adaptor' its just a blue/white socket for the end of your blue/white plug, connected to a short cable with a French domestic 2pin plug on the end.
Many French campsites use the blue/white socket you are familiar with but some still use the 2 pin French domestic socket. It is for these you need your adaptor.

Ask the site you are going to stay at - some need adaptors for the 2 pin sockets, some don't, some have reverse polarity so need a "crossed over" adaptor, some only have a 6 amp supply so don't bother taking high draw appliances if so. The site will advbise what you need.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

The first site we went to said they had the same ehu as the UK in all their pitches. It was only when we got there we found otherwise, not to worry, we had the adaptor. Only, it was reversed polarity and no, they couldn't help us with that! Hence the srewdriver hunt at 8pm at night the first night. By the time we got back, it was too dark to 'fix' as we hadn't brought a torch. AND we still had to pay for the EHU the first night. Kinda spoiled things a bit.

We take a 2 pin adapter but have only used it a couple of times. The electricity amp supplied is often lower than sites in UK but you should know this from the websites before you go and hubby always takes the mains polarity tester plug to test for reverse polarity before we plug in. Sometimes a longer lead is needed; we have had to use our standard long lead and the shorter one that we carry at some sites. At a site last year both were only just long enough, so we may take 2 long leads.
