Has anyone here stayed at Camping - Kathy& Dave at La Fosse de  Tigne, Maine et Loire?

It seems a quiet (Yay!), Small (yay!), Adults Only (yay! yay!) site close to lots of vineyards (hic! yay!) and we wondered if anyone has any experience of the site?

We are planning to travel over from Dover on August Bank Holiday Monday and spend 7 nights here. It will be the first time we have gone without our kids (leaving them at home to fend for themselves) and we are COUNTING THE DAYS!!!!.

Thought we'd respond to our own post!

Booked ferry on Friday night. Looked at Dover to Calais last Tuesday / Wednesday and it was £84.00. Logged on again on Friday night and it was £70.00. No brainer as far as we're concerned - booked it there and then!

Wrote nice letter with £12 Sterling deposit cheque to campsite and gave to my OH to post (along with a pile of other mail). She put stamps on them all and put them in the postbox. Only then did she realise that she'd put second class stamps on ALL of the envelopes!!! Postage to France is approx 72p!!

We are just waiting now to see if our cheque actually turns up or comes back to us! Best we send another I think!

We have also been scurrying around camping shops, Tesco and Wilkinsons to replace all the stuff we threw out two years ago!

Ah well! 90 days and counting.

Haven't stayed on the site you mention, but you'll actually find many sites in France are 'adult only' outside the peak holiday season - and August Bank Holiday is outside the French high season by about two weeks for most sites.

We go around the end of August and only rarely have there been any children on site when we've been - and we've been to lots of sites throughout France over many years.

Have a great holiday, though.  France is a lovely place to camp.

If you are thinking of making it an annual thing, then there are discount schemes which can bring down the prices of French campsites significantly - these are www.campingcheque.co.uk, www.campingcard.com, www.touringcheques.co.uk, and www.vacancesoleil.co.uk - all offer a variety of sites, mostly larger sites, but as said, in low season very often children free - and can be very quiet indeed, but with facilities on site should you need or want to use them.

We are hope to see you on site 1 -7 Sept, just waiting for confirmation from Kathy.  Booked on overnight ferry from Portsmouth Bank Holiday Monday, travelling down from Cumbria after spending the weekend with friends on our favourite site.  We haven't been to this site before but have visited the area, hence our desire to go back.   Last time we had the kids with us, but that's a few years ago.  They have since been left to fend for themselves (and subsequently moved out) so we hope it's reassuring to hear that they have survived!

HI davenjo!!

This will be our first time down to the Loire and we are counting the days. Can't come quick enough for us!! Friends of ours have said that our girls can stay with them for the week - so thats the threat of houseparties and boys sorted!

If you get there, look out for the Volvo 850 Estate and Gelert Horizon.

We'll get the vino ready!!

Hi Kev & Mags

Kathy confirms receipt of the cheque so we look forward to seeing you there (providing the Freelander makes it - having broken down in Rouen in 2007 - what a nightmare!).  It's a bit of a trek from Barrow in Furness to La Fosse de Tigne so we'll be ready for a glass or two when we arrive - can't wait!

Have a good trip - see you there.

Dave & Jo
