It depends, sometimes it can get a bit chilly at night. We take sleeping bags and liners, usually end up sleeping in the liners but then can pull the sleeping bags over if it does get cold.
If you take just sheets, you'll probably end up going out to buy sleeping bags or quilts!

It could go either way - if you're lucky then you may not even need a sheet. If you're up in the mountains, and you have very clear nights, then you may need a duvet. We've had both types of holiday - and to be safe I'd take both.
If you haven't a lot of room then vaccuum pack your duvets in those storage bags you can get - it's surprising how little room they can take up. You can get a tiny pump which plugs into your car cigarette lighter socket, which will pump enough air out to get them home - though not quite as small a package as when done at home with your vaccuum cleaner.
Around the coast we have never needed more than a sheet and a light blanket at most, but up towards the Verdon Gorge or other higher points as said earlier it can get quite chilly overnight. Best bet is to take light layers then you can adjust according to your needs.
Depends where you are going in the South of France. If the Cote d'Azur probably only need a sheet but like Val said if you are in the mountains or gorges you would definately need a duvet, when the nights are quite chilly. The bonus of this is you sleep well

Was in Netto to-day and picked up a King Size Duvet 4.5 Tog for £6!, they also had Singles £4 and Doubles £5, the King Size packs very small, and will be handy should the need arise, although I hope not in the Southern Ardeche during July lol, just need to find a cheap cotton King Size Duvet cover for it now.
