I`m thinking of booking a camping trip down to France for August / September this year.

I would appreciate any suggestions where to go for a decent family site where we will have a good chance of getting some sun on our backs !!!

This August we are off to les castels Chateau martragny in Normandy for starters. Its a great campsite and we went last year also, you can fish while watching the kids on the park or in the swimming pool. For hope of a bit of sunshine we are then off to la rochelle on the Atlantic coast at Village de la Guyonnière.

i have been to a few sites in the vendee region and i heartily recommend them

le clarys plage (sp) and les genets, both  short walks to the beach/shops/bars and restaurants.short drive north to st john de monts,short drive south to le sable d`lonne (sp) and la rochelle in fact the last time we made the drive to futuroscope near poitiers and stayed in the camponile hotel there ,(40 euros for family 4 with breakfast)

I suppose it depends how long you are going for and how long you are prepared to drive. There are some fantastic sites in the Dordogne, and the Ardeche can be very hot in summer. we are going to head for the Med!

Fav site on Dordogne = soleil plage
not cheap but good facilities keep the season going when others are packed up

its right on the banks of the river, there is loads to see in the area, the pool is heated and the staff welcoming
