We've provisionally booked onto these sites in Ireland in July/August and wondered if anyone has stayed there and can give us some feedback.  Its our first time in Ireland, so any generl tis would be appreciated. Many Thanks

We stayed at Ballinacourty House in 2007.  Unless it has changed a lot since then it was a nice site.  We also stayed at the Glen of Aherlow Caravan Park about a mile up the road - did one on the way to Eagle's Point (Cork) and one on the way back.  Of the two I preferred Ballinacourty House.  There is a good pub within walking distance which does food.  There is a Tesco in Tipperary but it's a long way :-) (no seriously it is a long way).

There is a review of Hidden Valley here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5994 ?

We went to stay at Ballinacourty one year, but it rained so much we moved across to (dryer) Kilkenny the next day ! From what we saw it seemed a nice site though.

Have you also seen this site, The Apple, also in Tipp http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3094 - it gets good reviews and is well situated between Clonmel, Cahir and Cashel.

General tip - it'll take about 50% longer to travel anywhere than you think it's going to 17.

Many thanks for the feedback, and the links to the reviews.  I hadn't worked out how to find reviews of sites other than UK and France!

So sorry everyone seems to have rain when they visit the Emerald Isle!

I feel relieved that the sites we've chosen seem nice, I have to confess I didn't do much research as we are only staying at each one for 4 nights before we head off to Mannix Point - which incidently has fantastic reviews.  We will be there the first weekend in August and there is a music festival in the village which sounds wonderful.  Just hope it doesn't rain.

Thanks again

JAN

Not sure if the timing is right, but there's a good Arts Festival in Kilkenny (near enough to Tipp) http://www.kilkennyarts.ie/ from 7th to 16th August. They usually do a large free event on the first weekend of the festival. 2009 details aren't on the website yet, but they shouldn't be too long.

That will be excellant - the timing is perfect, just when we will be there - thanks for letting me know - it will be a nice relief from mountain climbing - we're planning to do Galtymore while we're in Tip.
