we arrived back after 2 fanstatic weeks in france, however yesterday i got flashed by a speed camara, does anyone know if they chase the fines in the uk?

Plans are in hand for countries in the eu to claim fines across borders but I dont think they have been made law yet.

But some fines are reaching the offender. It does seem that a lot of speeders are getting away with it at present.  However their offences will remain on record so may be re-activated should they appear on a French traffic camera in the future ... indeed, if they stay on record then they might resurface anytime in any country in the future.

So, I'd do the decent thing and pay up!  You're original message suggests that you are guilty ..... 

I wonder if it depends on the severity of the offence?

I have been flashed by a camera in France and had nothing from it. I think I was just over the speed limit so maybe got some sympathy! Some cameras flash without recording data....It does slow you down for a while!

yes i am guilty, dont mind paying the fine just wondering if i would actually get one..

Normally in the uk people get a double flash,  but hey ive done the crime so i`ll do the time,,

If I got a notification through the post then I would probably pay it as we go over to France twice a year for 2 two week holidays and I wouldnt want to be on a "blacklist" of any kind. But if I didnt get anything through the post then I wouldnt chase it up or worry about it.

OH has been flashed in both Holland and Switzerland in the last few years and has been chased up for both, so expect a letter with a fine and see it as a bonus if it doesn't arrive.

In my experience all the speed cameras in France are well signposted. Usually there is a warning sign and within a few hundred metres the camera will be there.

No excuse under those circumstances for getting flashed.

That's fixed cameras... Mobile cameras are not sign posted...obviously..

OP doesn't say how he got caught...
