There is a great review for this campsite on this forum.

But can anyone tell me whether this site is quiet and peaceful at night or are there loads of marauding teenagers there?

Thanks

Chris

Chris

In peak season I'd like to know this as well.....

I went this May - so outside of season. Only a couple of lunatic teenager types on the site....but enough of the wife and me

The review you read is spot on. You'll marvel at the non-stop loo cleaning BTW.

It was VERY quiet at night out of season. And a security bloke checked out the camping area and went into every single toilet cubicle to assess like an interior designer at 11pm and 12pm.

From memory on some European review sites (see Zoover) there are some complaints about the late night Disco from Las Dunas campsite next door from pitches that are the farthest away from La Ballena's commercial hub.

I kinda pity teenagers though - They are not commercially viable enough to give them what they need, and they aren't allowed half a shandy in the bar, so they hang round the only lit up place - A flipping toilet block!

If you do go in season - Can you report back on noise etc?

Thanks VB,

It is great to hear from someone who has been to the site. The review is very encouraging but it is always nice to have further opinions.

We are actually taking 2 teenagers with us and they are looking forward to the watersports. They (and we) are hoping that there will be some company for them and some entertainment that they will enjoy. But the campsite video makes it look as if it might only cater for young children! And yes, we saw a couple of comments on Zoover about the noise from the disco but also plenty of encouraging (dutch/german) reviews.

We have booked a PLUS pitch near to the beach and these look nice. What sort of pitch did you stay on?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Kaz! - BTW I think you could probably walk along the beach to L'Escala. Just it isn't a 10 minutes stroll.

TEENAGERS - They should all be shot! Well I know I should've been....

Speaking as a cynic - The website pics should be seen as an "advert", rather than as fact. Showing small children's stuff = Cute. Welcoming for their parents taking them to Spain for the first time. Etc etc. Showing hormone rich teenagers perhaps isn't so cute?   The Dutch/German parents who took their nippers 10 years ago are still going there, so it can't be that bad.

Given there are 1500+ pitches and thus perhaps 6,000 people <yikes!>, plus a dedicated teenager's pool - No fuddy-duddies allowed! Plus an internet cafe (though without a cafe) - It must be a good choice.

But what do I know? I only had 3 very happy ankle biters and went off-season with a playground almost to themselves.

As to pitches - You have a 2 second stroll to the beach, but are unlikely to have sand whipping in, as there is a protective bank in between. Your pitches will be massively worn, but that'll be okay. We were on the plebs pitches (next to "our" playground) on grass and had to walk ummm at least 10 seconds further to the beach (no pitch is more than 50m from the beach).

It's a very nice highly organised site. Big business orientated obviously. With some "nice" but dippy (I've never worked on a campsite before isn't it nice) employees.

Previously I'd never think about going on a 1500+ pitch site in peak season (well at least until the kids are older and can put pressure me)....think of the bread queues of a morning (It'd be like Soviet times!) ....but it isn't really like that at all.

You'll have fun. You'll love it. They'll love it. It's brill.

And of course you'll be reporting back to let ME know whether I should stay here in peak season, or at the highly manicured small site where they hand out lollipops to nosey people like me 4km up the road

Thanks VB & Kaz16,

We leave Portsmouth on Sunday evening and will be back in UK on 3rd August.

I will report back on impact of 6000 people. But we stayed at Playa Bara (Costa Dourada) 2 years ago and that was also massive. Yes, the bread queue in the morning was long (but only 20 minutes wait) but the benefit of such a large operation was also significant (eg loads of choice of bar, restaurant, takeaway, entertainment etc etc).
