We are off to the Vendee at the end of August with our two children aged 3 and 5; and our old faithful Trailer Tent.
Can anyone recommend a site near the beach, access to cycle paths, a pool and not too noisy at night times. Not worried about entertainment just decent value and nice and clean!!
------------- 60% of the time it works everytime...........
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
There are a couple of nice ones in Jard sur Mer Les Ecuriels and Pomme du PIn, both small within easy walk of beach and shops and at end of August should be quiet.
No idea about sites but intrigued as to how old your Conway is? Mine (1989 Camargue, see profile pix) is 20 years old and I've seen other Camargues dating back to 1984, but I don't think I've seen an earlier one out and about. What do you have? It will make my day if it's one of the A-frame 70's models.
Camping Bel in La Tranche Sur Mer.
Dont have their own website, but you will find it in the Eurocamp and Keycamp brochures.
Try pricing it through Eurocamp Independent.

Just returned from Camping Bel In La Tranche Sur Mer Southern Vendee, went for two weeks and we have a two and a half year old boy, this site is spot on for people with young children it is close to the beaches and town centre all of which are in walking distance...but take bikes if you can as there are lots of safe cycle tracks to use..if you cant take bikes you can hire them from a shop near the site, the site has two playgrounds, a nice pool and every night films are shown for young kids in a cinema next to the onsite bar...there are plenty of attractions to vistit in Vendee such as Zoo's and Aquariums, and theme parks etc, I cannot recomend this site and the Vendee enough.
hi Mark and Cheryl
Remember speaking to you before on one of your posts.
Glad you liked Bel, it seems to be overlooked so often by people. I know there are other sites in the area but for people with small children, or in fact older ones, who dont need the facilities of some of the bigger sites it is perfect. So handy to everything, if you cant be bothered driving too far once you get there.
It it still as clean and well run???
Keep your finger crossed that something works out for us soon,so we can go to Bel as planned. We had our car pinched five weeks ago and the wheels of the insurance company are turning very slowly.
We may end up hiring one of the Eurocamp statics, rather than lose our money we have paid out for the ferry.
By the way our kids want to know does the clown still be there on Friday nights? Believe it or not they are 11 and 13, but wouldnt dare admit to enjoying him.
Hi Jeff and Sharon. We cant thank you enough, we really enjoyed our stay at Bel. Yes it is still very clean and well run, the staff were all very helpful and their english was fantastic ( put me to shame so Im learning French for when we return). The clown is still a great feature on a fri night, he walks around the site to collect the children.
Such a shame about your car, cant you demand a courtesy car due to a booked holiday unless they can sort it out very quickly? I used to work in insurance and would have honoured that for someone, especially if you will loose money if you dont have a car!!!!
Getting back to Bel, what a perfect location. We walked of cycled everywhere locally, and drove for days out. The pizzaria in town is wonderful too. I've come home raving about it so much so my sister in law wants to come with us next year.
Hope you get your car sorted, good luck. Let us know how your holiday goes.
