Cary and I are dithering about where to go for our 5 week "Euro Hols" this year. We have the Norfolk Line crossing booked out 24 July, home 28 August but nothing else. We don't usually book sites anyway.

We had been thinking about the French Alps, Annecy area, but our eldest son has been extolling the virtues of Slovenia and Cary is fancying that.

We like quiet rural sites with mountains, lake views. We like hiking plus, if possible sea, river or lake where we can use our Zodiac inflatable which has a small outboard motor.

We'd appreciate any/all comments and/or site recommendations for either area.

Thanks in anticipation.
Tim

We skiied in Slovenia several years ago and thought it was lovely. Lake Bled was absolutely stunning and the people were extremely friendly.

Hi - we are off on Norfolk Line on August 3rd sailing back on same day as you and are driving to Belgrade (with 5year old and 3 year old in tow) via Slovenia - all I have heard about Slovenia seems amazing - we love France but thought we would give Slovenia a try this year. Have fun making your mind up!!

You will not be able to use an outboard on many lakes in Slovenia.   They are crystal clear and they want to keep them like that.
Lake Bled(Camping Bled) could suit you.   Although busy it is quiet and in an ideal location for your needs. It is in the Triglov National Park with walks direct from the site or a few miles away are the higher mountain walks.
For visiting Lubijana, well worth a visit, Camping Lubijana Resort, is good for a couple of days. 1 Euro bus fare into City Centre.    Take in the caves of Postojana whilst there.

Slovenia is lovely, the mountains lakes and countryside..  We have been many times as my sister in law comes from Slovenia., and they have a flat in Ljubljana

The people are very friendly, although at first seem a little severe, but not the case.  There is virtually no crime in Slovenia which is another plus, which makes you feel very safe.

We have never been camping in Slovenia, so cant comment on campsites, some seem very big, but Im sure very good.  If you need any info Im sure I can help
