Can anyone give me any information about sequoia? We are looking to go next year in our caravan with our son who will then be 3. My sister in law is also coming with us and staying in a static with a 4 and 7yr old girls. Can you advise on the larger pitches (we have a big caravan), how far is the nearest town, beaches, good days out etc?

Many thanks

Stayed here last year for two weeks last year with touring cheque.

An absolutely superb site, with loads of facilities to suite you and your young family. They have entertainment for the young ones, in the courtyard, and the kids love it.

They have various sized pitches that are well spaced out that are surrounded with shrubs. On arrival they allow you to wander around to select your preferred pitch and to be honest you can be spoilt for choice.

The pool area is very clean and well maintained and lifeguards supervise at all times. There is a small well-stocked supermarket on site for those essential items you run out of, and bigger super markets close bye. They also hire bikes from reception.

The toilet and shower blocks are superb and include family wash/shower facilities with plenty of hot water.

I can fully recommend the restaurant, food is superb and very reasonably priced for that special meal, and they also do a take away when you don’t feel like a BBQ.

All in all, it’s a very safe, clean and well-run site, set in the grounds of a lovely chateau. The staff are extremely helpful, polite and speak very good English and go out of their way to assist you. The site is patrolled by security guards at night to ensure that no "reveller’s" spoil your stay.

I can’t really recommend "Good days out" as they are often particular to the individual, but it’s a fantastic area with lots to see. I would suggest the beaches on the island might be better although there is one about 5kms away, ask at reception for directions.

Hope you have a lovely stay.

Regards……Turnaround

We are staying here for 11 nights from 8th August - we did a lot of research looking for the ideal place for us until we came across this one - just hope that this area of France won't be affected by our current weather system!

Hi Mark and Cheryl
Beginning to think we are related in some way, we seem to go for the same type of site!!!!!!!!!!
Sequoia was our second choice of park, after Bel, so if you go, you can tell us, what you think.

Hi all thanks for your replies.

Jeff & sharon i guess we just have great taste!

We are not thinking of going until Aug 2010 and have read reports on trip advisor about birds nesting in the toilet and shower blocks dropping poo,s and flying about and also a few reports on mozzies, saying they are very bad here. This is my main concern as I seem to get eaten alive and so does our son. Can anyone please advise on this.

Can I just add that I do look on the reviews on here, but some ,sadly, dont always leave reviews and there are no recent on this campsite. We found this to be the case with this years holiday and this is how we "met" Jeff & Sharon, just one couple that are more than willing to advise and help where they can.

Any news on the car guys?

No news on the car except we had a very busy day on Friday.
Have reached the Gap insurance stage now, but the second offer from our insurance company wasn't posted as promised, so we went to the office in Belfast and picked it up.
Completed the gap forms and faxed them all, took 20 minutes, but at least they have got them(phoned just to make sure).
Now have to wait to see what they offer, can take up to two weeks.
Have just changed our outward sailing date to the 9th instead of the 5th August to give us a few more days. Cuts down our holiday time, but would rather be more sure of going than not at all.
One thing I would say in all of this Irish Ferries have been great and would highly recommend them.
Maybe you could use them when you come to visit us!!!!!!

I do think we need to meet! Maybe we can sort something out when you come home. We're off to Longleat (staying at devizes) at the end of Aug, and looking for somewhere for new year. Is there a way of contacting you without being on a post?

Hi Cherl

We are returning to Sequoia after having a fantastic time last year. We loved everything about the site the only downside is that you do need a car to go and explore the area as it is at least a 30 min drive to any decent beaches, but that being said we are more pool people and you cant beat the pool complex at this site, although the largest pool is cold!

Mozzies- yes they are a problem we had to really spray up in the evening but we do where ever we go.

Toilet blocks- yes birds do nest around toilet blocks but no they dont poo every where.

Pitches- dont know what time you plan on visiting but in late Aug when we visited the camp was full and there was no chance of selecting own choice of pitch. Pitch size does vary greatly and allocation seemed radom eg small tents on huge pitches and caravans on smaller ones. If you want to guarantee a large pitch book one of the few super pitches which are a guaranteed size. I think we were on F area and we have requested to be placed back in this area for this Aug, for us it was the best area, most pitches were of a good size, not to far to walk to pool or courtyard but we could hear music at night. ( I will check our paper work tomorrow and let you know our top five pitches that we stated a preference for this year)

If you do intend to book for peak weeks in 2010 you will need to book as soon as bookings open up in sept to guarantee one of the better pitches as people returning (like us,lol)quicly book up the best pitches.

any other questions just ask

sueandgary

Hi Sue & Gary, thanks for your reply. We are thinking of going late july/ early Aug. We dont need school hols but my sister in law does. We do have a fairly large outfit (prob the same size as yours) so info on the larger ptiches would be fantastic. Also which of these pitches are quieter? We have a son who will be 3 by then and noise like to have an affect on him that makes him want to play......Not a huge problem as it is his hol too.

Who do you book through? Ive tried ringing round today but no one has next years prices, Ive also just mailed the site direct.

Oh and can you recommend a good mozzie spray that can be used?

Hi Charl

i have found this pdf file, sequoia parc map

we were in f area, some of the pitches we have requested are 101,102 and 107. We liked this area as it was close to all the amenities, but if you want quiet it prob wont be for you as some noise from the bar can be heard untill it all closes down at midnight. Area T maybe better but can't comment on the overall size of these pitches as we only had a quick walk around but they mostly looked fine. You may have some road noise as this part of the park backs on to the main road and i did hear comments that the tennis courts were the place where the teenagers tended to congregate in the evening.

Most of the statics were in zone a, leading into t and at the back of area f. I think your sister in law would be better booking direct with sequoia as there own accomadation looked lovely and i should imagine alot cheaper than going through one of the companies that have accomadation onsite. Reception speak very good english so dont worry about ringing them up and asking questions but going by our experience they open up booking in sept for the following year.

If you want any route or enroute stop over info just ask away.

Hi
Just in from a very long day at work, hence the time of the post.
Will check out how to contact you.
Next years holiday is already sorted for us, we have a daughter getting married in Exeter at the end of June (she has worked there for three years). We have decided to make it our main holiday, so we will be in Cofton Country caravan park near Dawlish, for two weeks from about 23rd June. On our way back to the ferry we will have to stop near Alton Towers or we will never hear the end of it.

Well we will be there in just over 2wks so I promise to leave a detailed review on my return.  I have also requested Zone F as advised by another member on here perhaps it was you garbold?!  My OH gets eaten alive & the mossies were really bad at a site we stayed at in Italy last year too - we can highly recommend Boots own high deet spray as although it stinks he was bitten far less than usual which was a godsend as every bite swells up like a tennis ball and makes his life a misery!
