I've been there a couple of times. It's a very nice site on the banks of the river. There is a bridge at the end of the campsite the centre of which is the German/Luxembourg border. Over the river is the village of Echternach with plenty of shops and a couple of supermarkets. All very pretty and quite enjoyable.

Not stayed there but have visited Echternach and looked at the campsite from across the river, it has a nice location and as Phil says you can walk across the bridge into Luxembourg.

Lynne, don't forget tax is a lot less in Luxembourg than in Germany, so make sure you fill your car up there and not in Germany.

Also alcohol and tobacco are much cheaper if you need those things.

The campsite at Echternach, like most continetal sites can seem a bit chaotic, the way they pitch up anywhere can be a bit annoying.We went out for the day and when we came back, someone had pitched their Eriba caravan in the space for my car. Being German and in their own country the owners did not see it as a problem, until I parked my car the other side of their van, thereby taking their parking place.I had visions of a Falwty Towers situation developing, but they moved the next morning. As for things to do & see, I did not think there was that much in the area and Luxembourg City was a real disapointment, even the tourist train only took you for a trip through the park.
