We are just back from a week under canvas (as it were) in France, went very well and this site was really useful so thanks!

Travelled ldlines Dover - Boulogne which was fine, new ferry the Norman Arrow does the crossing in a hour or so.

Stayed in pleasant camp site near Arras; I've just done my site review and tent review!

We had mostly sunny days but stormy nights.

Tim

Glad you had a nice time Tim.  Just out of interest, we're off in August for two weeks, and we've never taken the caravan abroad before, how did you find the price of things ??  I'm trying to work out what to take and all the other stuff.

Thanks Ali

Prices ... the main thing if you want to save money is to avoid the cafés IME, which is a shame as that is half the reason to go to France!

Just buy an extra baguette in the morning with a couple of slices of ham and you have an excellent lunch for next to nothing. Sausages, veg and a bottle of wine makes a good evening meal and costs little.

Whereas we found that going to a café and having a drink and snack always seemed to cost 40-50 Euros for the four of us.

We also found prices for things like ice creams very high in the tourist traps - visited Le Touquet-Paris-Plage which was breathtakingly expensive, we did little more than breathe and just about got out alive.
