We are taking our tent for the first time this year. Previous years we have used Mobile homes and tents that are already there ie Eurocamp etc.
But we are experienced UK campers so it seems daft to pay Eurocamp for the use of a tent and equipment when we have all we need and a large vehicle to carry it in!
We are heading to Cap D'Agde as we have driven this far lots of times using Eurocamp. We want to maximise our chances of good weather for the last two weeks in August.
When you compare UK site prices to South of France we can't think of a good reason not to give it a go.

Camping in France is fantastic. Been going in our tent for past 15 years. Campsites there are soooo good on the whole. Roads are usually quiet. Service areas do decent food. It's a fab camping holiday over there. Go for it.
We leave Sunday at 11:59 from Plymouth to France (ile d'oleron) with car 2 kids PLUS tent extnsion cooker etc and a lot of "what have i forgotten" LOL.
I say just go for it.But prepare.
Tony.
First time by the way.
Lovin it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Yes, us, we're tent campers! And freecampers too... we always book direct and sometimes don't book at all. (Though we always camp on sites)
We've been tenting since we were 18. I think we were 20 or so the first time we camped in France. That would have been 1977 or so. We're still tenting and plan to continue for a good while yet. It has to be said though, our tiny tent and little primus have expanded rather a lot ... a huge tent, toilet tent, kitchen tent, pup tents for sleepovers .... though we still take the same little camping kettle!
Heading to the South of France this Friday am (21/08), nothing booked yet ... well apart from Val d"Aleth on the Saturday, but just hitting the road and seeing where I end up Friday. Looking forward to it, I have to say. To borrow a phrase from the 1970's:
'Camping, the spirit of adventure'.
Go for it!
We were first timers this year and had a great holiday. I had been checking out this forum for a few months before and everyone gave really good advice. It helped with the planning of our holiday and the trip went really smoothly.
Keep up to date on here over the winter and go for it next year - you won't regret it !!
