Just a quick query wondered if anyone could help with. we have booked an etap hotel in coquelles for wednesday night - leaving straight after work then heading down to the Tunnel - probably arriving france around midnight. We have not used this chain of hotels before and just wanted to double check how easy it is to get into the hotel outside of reception hours? We are assuming it is an automated reception with credit card but can't find any info on their website - has anyone used them before?
I could phone but whilst my french may be good enough to ask the question I'm not confident of understanding the answer on the phone!!
Any advice gratefully received!!

We stayed in the same complex in the Ibis at the very end of July but we didn't need late access, so I can't comment.
However the staff in Ibis all spoke fluent English, so I'm sure the Etap staff will aswell.
Also last year when I had to ring the B&B chain about a booking, the person I spoke to put me out of my misery as I was trying to speak in French and said " You can speak in English if you like." !
I have not stayed in that Etap but have stayed in the one in Abbeville and we used the same credit card we made the booking with. The machine prints out a slip of paper with a code which opens the car park gate, the front door and your room. The machine was in a small foyer at the front of the hotel and there is a gate for foot passengers.

Have stayed at many ETAP Hotels and all have had an automatic machine as described by Magically above, you just need the credit card you booked with and your booking reference number. The only exceptions have been some near airports which have had 24hr receptions.
We arrived late at our Etap in Calais to find the gate to the car park locked, for the life of me i cant work out how we managed to get it to open, but i think it was by entering our booking ref or it may have been our credit card number???. Problem with arriving so late was that the carpark was full and we ended up having to park on a grass verge. Once inside reception there was a machine where we had to insert the credit card that we had made the booking with and then a slip came out with our room number and access codes for doors.
Sure someone with a better memory than me will have better info, lol
We stayed at the Etap Saint Herblain Nord near Nantes on the way to/from the Dordogne and although we arrived during reception hours I saw a machine by the hotel entrance that looked like a cashpoint machine. I assume you just needed to type in your booking ref and put your card into the machine to get the codes to get into the hotel, your room and the car park if needed.
