We stayed there 5 years ago. It took about 5 hours driving from La Havre with a short stop at Avranches on the way for a leisurely brunch. The Le Men Du campsite 150m from the Men-Du beach. The campsite was reasonably priced and the facilities clean with good flat pitches with hedge barriers. There was no bar and at the time of the year we went, (early June) the site was fairly quiet. It was about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Carnac-Plage which had a reasonable selection of bars and restaurants but nothing outstanding. The beach itself at the centre of Carnac-Plage was clean and large and we enjoyed an hour looking through the rock pools. I’d imagine it gets pretty busy in peak season though. The Men Du beach was just as good and much quieter and that’s where I would recommend for a days lazing on the beach.
Whilst at Carnac the main attraction is the ancient megaliths. We hired a four seated bike and took ourselves on a self powered tour for a couple of hours. You can’t actually get amongst the main stones and have to view them from the road or paths. You can climb a tower to view them but we didn’t bother.
I'm sure you'll have a great time
