We have just got back from our 2 weeks in Sarlat and had a fab time.

So now its all about next year. We have always used either Keycamp, once went with Thomson Alfresco and even took our own tent a few years ago, ( can't do that again had terrible back ache from sleeping on air bed for 2 weeks).

I want to book a mobile home/chalet but wondered if anyone can recommend another company to use.

Or can anyone recommend a good site, we are looking at either coastal south france, or poss Spain. I know that its a huge area but please share with me any fantastic sites. The kids want an all singing pool complex with slides etc, we want lots of activities either on or near, good evening entertainment, decent bar and restaurant.

We have done the more quiet sites in the last few years and fancy going up a gear for next year.

So please if you have been somewhere fab or know of a good company you would recommend please let me know.

Thanks loads

We've used French Freedom a few times in tents and mobiles. They are pretty good and generally work out cheaper than Keycamp, Alfresco, etc., but not so many sites.
We've alse used a French company, Vacances Directes and booked the ferry separately - this worked out cheaper in late August than a UK company package when the exchange rate was €1.40/£ - might not be the case now.

Cambrils Park near Tarragona in Spain is a full-on site - loads going on and between Salou and Cambrils, so a pretty full-on area too, but the site is LOVELY.  The pitches are big for Spain, with a nice amount of shade on most, grass under foot, two fantastic pool complexes (but no huge toboggan slides, unfortunately), lawned areas around the pools with loungers, play areas, restaurant doing excellent meals, take-away (similarly excellent), bar with evening entertainment on an 'island' in the middle of one of the pools, and supermarket, beach goods shop, coffee shop and bread shop on site.  The sanitary facilities are absolutely excellent - each with a 'resident' cleaning team who are there all the time mopping and cleaning up after people.  It's walking distance to the beach, too - and plenty of bars/restaurants/etc., in the immediate area.  You can get cheap flights to Reus, too, with Ryanair and others, to save all the driving.  The site is a bus ride (or taxi) away.

Lots of the 'tour operators' do 'bungalows' there rather than mobile homes, but the camping area is fantastic too.

We have used Eurocamp in the past but this year I booked with Siblu as it worked out about £700 cheaper than booking with Eurocamp for the same site, same dates.  Tried to get Eurocamp to price match but they wouldn't, so made the booking last Sept (eager beaver that I am lol)

Have a look at Camping du Pylon down at Biot near Antibes, great site with loads going on for the kids, do a Google and book direct with a static owner, your talking around £450 per week in peak, whereas Keycamp will charge around £900 per week on the same site, although they do include the £50 Ferry Crossing. the site is 500yds from the beach, and a there is a train station to take you to Nice, Monaco and Cannes etc, Nice Airport is a 1Euro bus ride away.

We were impressed by Matthews Holidays when we used them. There's also Vacansoleil now which took over Ian Mearns company. Lots of sites have their own mobiles and you might find it cheaper booking direct once you decide on a site you like.

Hi,

Try venue holidays. We've used then a few times. last June we got 2 weeks in one of these static tents for £170 (without ferry) as they were doing a 40% off sale.

Their site always has some offers on and if you're lucky you can get something quite good. I think its www.venueholidays.com but not sure.

Hi

We have a luxury mobile home that we let at 'Holiday Green ' which is in Frejus, south of france midway between Cannes & St Tropez and just 45 mins from Nice airport,Not sure how far south you intend going?

You really arent booking too early as we have been getting enquiries since June ready for 2010,give us a call if you would like any info on this area and maybe have a look at our website too.

Hi pager33, we stayed at 'La Palombiere' in St Nathalene, about 7kms from Sarlat.

We have been to the site before last year, its ok, nice pool, restaurant ok but pricey  and service very very slow, but the area is fab, lots of great places to see and great fun canoeing down the dordoyne.

I would  visit the area again but poss not for a few years.

hope you have fun and enjoy your hols as the go way too fast :(

Having tried quite a few, in our experience no one particular company is especially better than any other and the final decision has usually been down to whoever gives the best value for our money for the particular selected area/dates (now the children have grown up its just the two of us and we go outside the peak seasons).

Having said that, for the last three years our choice has been Venue Holidays who's personnel have been particularly helpful.  We found their mobiles at Camping Brasilia in Canet Plage to have been particularly good.

Found Matthew's Holidays to be above average as well.

Matthews's Holidays - very cheap compared to Eurocamp, keycamp etc. .....and conventional UK caravans with a nice end lounge to look out of - just spent time in Brittany in the rain - would hate it in one of those new looking 'cottage' style mobiles with a tiny middle lounge bit - give me a big picture window to stare out of anyday - watching all our fellow campers trudging along in their waterproofs!!

Matthews staff very laid back aswell - and more mature age group of rep!
