Dart save is no more benefit that doing it yourself, all it is really is an outfit that you register your car with they then register your car on their account and give you 21 days to pay them. You cant sign up after crossing, it has to be before crossing so they wont fine you as they cant and neither will dart charge as dart save have paid your 1.67 fee.       They pay dart charge 1.67 and charge you 2.50 for doing something you could have done yourself.    Now I grant you its only 83p profit per crossing you will still have to fill in their account details same as filling in a Dart charge account. You'd be better off one dart charge shared between friends even like us   We have about 15 families of us with around 32 vehicles all on the same account. someone adds it up every six months and we paypal as friends to a pot and one of us tops the account up.

Imagine Dart save like that but it seeks to make a profit it makes a profit on the account vehicle, they pay £2.50, dart save pay dart charge 1.67 so not sure what saving it actually is. Now its only 83p but 100000 83p's well that's £83,000.00 not bad for a bit of software. I imagine it will likely come to an end as I can hardly see the government or TFL or whoever it is allowing it to continue   they will probably put some account criteria in place saying only vehicle owned by account holder.

Open a Dart charge account its just as easy and cheaper

Dartsave seems like another operation like saneftollinguk, and those firms that charge you £20 for a free NHS EHIC card, why folk use these companies is beyond me, when it's just as easy to set up yourself, and the cost is less.

Why would anyone wan't to delay a £2.50 payment for 21 days, when you could simply pay £1.67 straight from your Dart account, I clearly must me missing something!

We have a Dart account and it does make things easier and seems to have reduced congestion. We travelled through today with no hold-ups or queues.

No idea about 'Dart-Save', is it a middle-man agency?

We use the Dartford Crossing on a regular basis as family live in Kent and we live in Hertfordshire. Since the removal of the toll booths the crossing has been easy to get through unless some one tries to throw themselves off the bridge ...then it gets closed.
I set up an account with the official Dart tag firm at the outset and it has made life easy. Remember also that if you cross after 10pm there is no charge. It seems weird to look at the account history and see that we crossed to go south but appear never to have returned!!!

Just to let people know before the onset of the summer holidays there are quite a few delays lately around the road works taking place on the Dartford crossing on both sides of the river. So check before you travel and maybe factor in allowing extra time if your journey is taking you that way.

We had delays on Sunday lunchtime - very long queues to get through the tunnel heading north. It was almost as bad as when the tolls were in place!

Our Dart Account works well though and I've just topped it up this morning.

Report from local resident - Northbound is regularly choked, and feels worse than when tolls were there to blame. Any breakdown or accident backs up straight away. The joke locally is "course there's a queue, there's a day with a 'y' in it." Unfortunately there's no way round, as the whole area snarls up. Most local roads have yellow box junctions.

It's worth considering M25 south and M42. Otherwise a flask and a newspaper. If you have mobile internet, do check highways agency traffic report.

Southbound, over the bridge, is improved and flows better.

I travel using the crossing in both directions weekly, based on the fact that the tolls have now been removed and the removal of the toll booth plaza has been completed I would say that north bound hasn't really improved where as the south bound bridge has.

The main reason is that north bound traffic is regularly held to allow hazardous goods convoys to be escorted through.

If you decide to use the tunnel my advice is to use the right hand lanes as you approach and go through the old southbound tunnel which is actually northbound.

For anyone with a Dartcharge account, there’s been change of management company. As a result, you will need to update your credit card details. Go in through the .gov portal to make sure to avoid scammers, though I’ve not heard of any incidents yet.
And no, northbound traffic is no better than in 2016 when I last posted!
