We have just returned from a month driving through europe (1st camping trip abroad) 7 countries in all.
We bought GB sticker (for folding camper) and light adjusters on ferry. When we stopped at 2nd campsite we noticed that GB sticker had fallen off so my OH made on from black gaffa tape (how useful it is). We crossed several borders including Croatia where the do a passport check (only ones that do) with no complaints. While driving around we noticed many cars without GB and other nations stickers even though they didn't have EU plates.
Have to mention also that in 3500 miles driving only saw one police car while on road not sure if that's the norm or not.

I think the trouble is that you could travel 10000 miles without being stopped but at 10001 you are stopped for something else and they check everything. Bit like the person on here who got fined in Holland because of a problem with towing mirrors. I am sure you are right that the probability of being caught is pretty slim. We would not be discussing this if the Government was brave enough to make Euro plates the only option as they are in many other countries.

My thoughts have always been keep your GB sticker as small as possible. Don't advertise the fact you are a Brit abroad. A couple of years ago in Spain our car was broken into by smashing a rear window. Nothing was stolen but I'm sure I was selected because of the GB number plate sticker.
------------- Mother Nature always wins in the end.
And I assume the UK number plates and RH drive vehicle had no bearing.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

My Dad was picked up for no GB sticker by Police in a Switzerland service area approx 5 years ago. He had the blue GB on the end of his number plate and had thought that would be sufficient. However no fine or punishment were applied.
