caravan for me! they don't need to be a black hole for money, ours cost £2,700 and has everything we need.
We find it great just being able to drive until you need to stop, find a municipal and within 10mins were sitting out with a glass of rouge! Lunchtimes are good, just pull up and stick the kettle on!
the kids (big kids) can take the essentials (xbox etc, much to my annoyance!) and we can bring back the essentials (60lts of wine this year!) We can also squeeze in all the chairs,bbq, fishing rods etc.
the downsides are the towing, more fuel, more tolls, more on the ferry/eurotunnel, timewise is not much different when travelling, maybe add 1/2hr onto a 5hr drive.
