Has anyone used them?  I was just brousing a caravan website that gave you five days free at a Camping Cheques campsite if you bought a caravan so went on the link www.campingcheque.co.uk  £9.95 per 2 persons per night on all sites.

We used camping cheques this year in France for the first time and they do save money. The site we stayed on cost 20 euros a night for 2 with electric so over 14 nights we saved approx 91 euros.

The service recieved from camping cheque was second to none, we ordered the cheques and they arrived 3 days later, great service. You get a booklet with a map and all the sites across europe who take the cheques during low season. You dont have to book inadvance but we  e mailed the site a few days before arriving so we had a space(its along way to the South of France).

Will definitely use them again next year.

Yes we were down in the South of France too, we booked in advance and paid with my C/card but loads of people were using them we we were cheaking in and it would have saved as a few bob! - we will be using them next year.

They also give you the flexability to move site if your 1st choice lets you down I guess

We used them for the first time this year in the south of france ( perpignan ) and got  7 nights for 6. The site was 20 euros a night for the first 7 nights and went to 26 euros a night for the last 3 nights, total saving on that site 83 euros. We used 2 other sites as well. We will definitely use them again, when booking with them they were very helpful.

Disadvantage is that you have to buy them in advance. Some people complain about the fact that they have a limited validity. If they did not use a number of them, the cannot return them and get money back. Spent is spent.
The similar rebates given for e.g. the ACSI-card does not have this disadvantage. They are given on showing the card and you pay at the site, not in advance.
Some people have both, the card and the cheques. Point is that they are not sure in advance wich campsites to visit. So they take a limited nr. of checks and the card.
For me it would not be a big difference at this point in time, as I tend to go for simpler campings in France. This years prices would certainly not have been lower with the cheques, and I had execellent campsites.
They are nice though, if you want more luxurious sites, as especially some of them join the CC and ACSI-arrangements.
Going for Ireleand probably next year I may have to reconsider.

 wlee

I must admit paying up front for the cheques is a pain, but they do last for 2 years.

Correct. So one you just have to decide whether that is acceptable for him/her or not. Some do and some don't.
Actually I just have read somewhere that the organisation is prepared to take back unused cheques at some administration cost, wich seems to be one cheque. So trade in 6 cheques, and you would get 5 payed back.
