we are planning to go to the Vendee region next summer. Will be in a rented static as we have just sold our van. We will be a party of two adults, 2x 16 year olds, 2 x13 year olds. Want something with some activity but not a holiday camp, somewhere for the teenagers to hang out safely in the evening, but no karaoke or bingo! Last time we went to the vendee we found it a bit desolate in parts (I know it is nice and hot there though), would like to find a site where we could walk to a town or village without having to get the car out in busy August. Are we asking too much or does anyone have any suggestions please? we cant be the only ones who want to keep our teenagers happy!

have a look at Pin Parasol. Depends on when you are planning to go but the price of their statics especially the last week in August is really good value imo. Never been to site but lots on here really rate it.

Pin parasol may be a bit too much for you, village de la guyonnaire is accross the lake from there and is a little more subdued, they do some statics (not many) and a few cottages, however both sites are very nice but still not within walking distance to a village.
How much activity do you need in the evenings for your kids?
The campsite we use in the Vendee ticks all your boxes apart from entertainment for the older kids. It is mostly geared up for smaller kids, although this summer I noticed an increase in the numbers of older kids on site. There is a pool table and I think a football table, also table tennis, tennis, football/netball.
It had Eurocamp and Keycamp tents and caravans.
You can walk into the town, which has a good range of shops, resturants etc. Also 5mins walks you to a large supermarket.
Traffic in the area was busy but you were still able to get out and about if you wanted.
It is called Camping Bel, in La Trance Sur Mer.

Thank you for your suggestions. What we want for the teenagers is somewhere to hang out, not really anything organised if you know what I mane? Maybe somewhere with a pool table, music videos, that kind of thing. I shall have a look at the suggestions so far.
I know you said you wanted the Vendee but one of our favourite sites is in the Loire and just a five minute walk from the town. Last year our daughter and her boyfriend flew out to join us there, they practically had the pool to themselves - late June - and could take themselves off into town for a meal or a wander about whenever they fancied.
