Have been looking at the following three sites in the Vendee. There are no reviews posted on them, was wondering has anyone been to them recently?
Le Bois Tordu,(think its spelt right) Le Clarys Plage, Sol A Gogo.
The reason I am looking at these three, is their apparent proximity to the beach and shops, which is a must, but would not want to be in an area with busy roads that you were stuck in traffic jams in August.

I have been to Sol a Gogo but not since 2005, I beleive all these sites are owned by the same family and this site is the closest to the beach and the only one with direct access. The with the others you will have to cross the road but it's not very busy. If I remember correctly the pool at Bois Tordu is tiny . They are all within walking distance to the small village and restaurants. We have also stayed at les ecueuils which is along the same road in St Hilaire de Riez but we felt it had a better pool complex, it's closer to the town but again you have to cross the road and sand dunes to the beach unless you drive down and park in the town (free).

Thanks pullup,
crossing the road to the beach wouldnt be a problem.
Les Ecueuils is anther one I looked at, would it be better than the others?
Also how far are you from a large supermarket?
We prefer to be able to walk most places once we get there.
there is a super u in the town but I can't remember how far it was to a hyper market,Ithink they are in st Jean de monts a few miles away. If you look on google earth you should get an idea of where everything is.

super u is fine for us its the one we are used to where we have stayed for the past two summers. It was really close you could walk to it. Should have said that I wasnt looking for a hypermarket.
As there are no reviews posted, might this not suggest something to you?
Most of the posters in this forum are seasoned travellers and this lack of info would suggest to me that no one goes to these places 'cos they're no good.
One of our neighbours goes to Les Ecureils (The Squirrels) every year. They say it suits them down to the ground but remember the old adage,"One man's meat is another man's poison".
The last two summers We have stayed at Le Clarys Plage for a week towards the end of August. Fantastic pool area play parks and bar. several shower blocks so never any queues for facilities. Pitches are a good size although quite sandy. There is a gated alleyway with security code from the side of the park which takes you straight into the super u carpark OH could be back with a box of ice cream for dessert before we had even finished washing up!Beach is about a 5 min walk from site entrance and there is bicycle hire and several resturants and bars, a tabac and the usual touristy shops on the way.

Hi Sarah,
Sounds just what we want.
We are spoiled by the site we have stayed in before and I know it is going to be difficult to get my lot to change, so the more information I can get the better.
Are the showers/loos kept clean?
Thanks
