It may well be the sun cream thats causing the problem. Like you I suffer very badly with it and my skin came up with big blister type lumps and its itched and itched.

I mentioned it to a beautician when I had a facial and she explained that if you are sensitive to the sun then sun cream will make it worse not better! It never occured to me I could be making it worse. The sun cream contains mineral oils, the molecules in the oil are larger than the inside of the skins pores and so it seals your skin. when you sweat it stops the sweat escapng and cooling you down. Instead you get a nasty allergic reaction as the skin is trying to cool down to combat the heat. Then you get those nasty itchy weals

I suffered for years and years, sat inside, covering up etc the rest of the family had a holiday while I hid in the tent or sat with a shirt on after the first couple of days. This year I used Boots Soltan anti allergy sun cream and for the first time ever I had a full summer with no covering up or hiding inside, no rash or itching. That sun cream isnt mineral oil based and so doesnt irritate, its no more expnsive than the other soltan sun range and it comes in a spray container.

Try it, it worked for me!

This is exactly what my Hubby gets and yes, as soon as he started using the Soltan Anti-allergy cream he was fine. It goes up to at least Factor 15 because that`s what I get for him. I`ve also heard the theory about most suncreams blocking pores. The advice he got was a cool shower both morning and night to clean sweat off, then this Soltan cream. Very effective.

Oil is the absoloute worst thing we sun allergic people can put near us! I used to love it but it was causing the damage. If its any consolation, with my factor 15 I still got a pretty decent tan this year so all is not lost ( and ill probably help myself not t get skin cancer too!)

Unfortunately one never gets bathtubs on camp sites which is a shame as the very best treatment for P H as well as for sunburn is a cool bathe laced with vinegar. I used this in south Arabia for years and it realy works. It must be REAL brewed vinegar not the non brewed condiment that is so often sold as vinegar, and no, you dont smell like a pickled onion afterwards

Why is there only one monopolies Commision?

My husband and kids used to get this. It is the perfume in the products that you are using reacting with the heat and sun. Asda do a NO_AD suntan lotion fragrance free and so do Tesco as well as Boots. You must also use Simple shampoo and conditioner as when you shower with normal ones the perfume still goes all over your body! . Simple shower gel and any unperfumed deodrant and dont use any perfume or after shave at all. If any does come up take some anti-histamine cream to rub in. I have had them all wanting to rip their skins off on previous holidays but touch wood since we have absolutely nothing perfumed now they are fine

The no AD  poducts always set me off and some of those are perfumed. They all contain mineral oil so that would be why I react. Its different things with different people I guess. Its wrong to point to any one cause . You have to use trial and error to find out what works for you.

I have suffered with pricky heat in the past, I think I must tried everything to get rid of it, taking the Pill made it 10 times worse, I don't suffer as badly with it now. Also last year I started using Simple sun cream and it's great, I have only had it mildy if at all.

I should have put the NO-AD fragrance free factor 15 cos yes you are right some do have perfume in them but it should say it on the front of the bottle

I suffer from this too and had problems with general rashes, the main things that changed this were:

*100% Cotton clothes and bed linen, now I am a camper its ok, but before I use to take a thin cotton sleeping bag with me on holidays.

*Keeping cool, cold(ish) showers throughout day, or even poping in sea as much as possible.

*Boots suncream - found Tescos one good too, worse was Nivea!

*NO milk! yes I think that this really made mine much worse (an ex-doctor told me this and it I think it really has helped, haven't had anything from a cow for over a year now which ties in with me rash free!!!!)

*Use non-bio washing powder, NO softner, NO fabreeze or any of that stuff. (My clothes are no different from using no softner honest)

*Do not use ANY chemical products, ie aftersun, perfumes etc. I find body shop stuff good, and the vasaline range too.

I once read somewhere that the heat rashes were caused by chemicals blocking (from everyday items) your skin pours and when the skin pours open up in the heat the chemicals block and poison the pours. I really think that this is true.

Good luck with it all though.
