Think the majority of French campsites have large pitches, the ones we've been to have all been a good size for our Antares 13 or Satellite 12 tents.

One site we have been to in the Loire was Camping De Chantepie near Saumur for the last two years and in addition to their standard pitches (100mē) with EHU they offer some XXL pitches (200mē - 250 mē) for even more room with EHU.

Good location and facilities.

We went to sequoia parc and had a gigantic pitch - see my gallery.  However, there was a guy near us with a nebraska L or XL can't remember which which had a side porch which they couldnt cater for as it would've meant that they wouldve been walking out of their tent and into a bush.  I reckon the pitch we had was about 8-9mtrs wide and about 12mtrs+ long although some pitches were smaller.  I saw one of the new mocha Idahos on one of the smallest pitches and it pretty much filled it (although they did have space outside for a table & chairs just) so I would make sure you ask before booking.

Site we use in the Dordogne has some pitches which are big enough for 3 caravans plus awnings on each and associated cars plus the odd gazebo!

Have a look at the Camping Cheque website (www.campingcheque.co.uk).  On the informaton page about each site (go through 'Our campsites' then the map of France, then the area you're interested in) there's a section which gives 'average' pitch size.  On most sites this seems to be around 100 sq m - but there are several sites which list bigger pitch sizes than this, and this may help you find a site where there are some very big pitches.

The Huttopia site we stayed at at Senonches states that the average pitch size is 300 sq m!

The pitches at Camping Moulin Fort took our Sunncamp XP12 this year. We've managed to put it up everywhere we have been in France without booking in August so you should be OK to be honest.

Hi Pager33,

Yes first trip with the Mack 6 and plenty of room on the standard pitch (E10 on the corner).

It's an excellent site with a good mix of pitches and good facilities. One that we might stop at next year. The plan is to venture a little further south !

James
