Hi

Has anyone been to Pra delle Torri on the Venetian Riviera. We are thinking of going next summer with 2 boys 11 and 13?

Thanks Caroline

Sorry Caroline, I have never been to Italy but hopefully someone will come along soon who has been to that area.  I just had to reply because I can't bear those wee crying faces!

Seen that site in the Canvas brochure and quite fancy it.   Don't think I would drive though - probably fly drive, hire a car and stay in a mobile home

We were looking at fly drive, as we didn't fancy the drive either.  Unfortunately you can't book with Ryan air yet as they don't release the flights until much later.  Don't really want to book until I know what the flights are going to cost. Ryan air do cheap car hire if you don't want anything too flashy.  We'll probably end up doing France again for about the 9th year although got fed up this year with the ferry fiasco at Plymouth ended up doing a 4 hour drive to campsite instead of 10 mins!

Did a search on Expedia and they are showing flights up to 5th August at moment as below.  Doesn't seem bad £444 for 2 adults and 2 kids ?   To hire a car costs £526 for 14 days on Holidayautos.co.uk (2 weeks in something like an Astra estate.

Thanks for the info

Ryan air car hire prices quoted me £226 for 2 weeks which I thought was really cheap, their flights for february (couldn't go any further on) were £130 for 4 a bargain! We were quite tempted to fly and have a few days away

Debcon,

According to ViaMichelin,  it is 828 miles from Calais to Lido di Jesolo and takes 13 hours not including breaks.   Would be interested, please, to know how you covered the distance (overnight stops, route etc).

Driving would save a lot of money on flights and car hire but it seems such a long way to drive.   The other benefits would be we could go for 3 weeks and take our normal fully laden car.

Regards
Dav

dave this is info i got from geoff y
"take the e40 or a16 its the same road out of calais in the direction of dunkerque and stay on the e40 all the way to bruxelles, as you reach bruxelles there will be a texico garage on your right hand side, keep in the righthand side lanes this will take you onto the ring road follow the ring road round looking for a4 or e411 the same road,it should say :wavre and namur or luxembourg : keep on e411 all the way to luxembourg go thru lux till you pick up sign post direction metz take this exit go thru metz and follow direction nancy after nancy follow direction epinal then after epinal look for the n66- e512 to remiremont. remiremont to mulhouse is the only single lane road in the route at mulhouse on to motorway direction freiberg head down till you pick up signs for basel
take motorway out of basel and look for a2 luzern and then stay on a2 all the way to italy this motorway will take you all the way to milan as you reach the outskirts of milan look for the a4 signs for bergamo the a4 will then take you all the way to venice.......
on the single lane road it shows the col du bussang! its not as bad as it looks on the map, this road has lots of well signposted campsights off it and some nice places to eat. hope this is of some help it may look a strange way to go but it is the quickest and cheapest route to italy " .                                                                                                                                                                This is the way we went,it was easier than driving to spain, we got the 0300hrs ferry from dover drove all day with a few stops for food and toilet and arrived in mullhouse about 1700hrs found a site for the night (we shared the driving ). Set off next morning about 0800hrs and arrived jesolo about 1730hrs spent 10 nights. On the return we drove to como had 2 nights, then to verdon 1 night, then to bernie river 5 nights (met some nice people)   set off home about 0800hrs for the 1200hr ferry . We didnt book any sites but next year we will book our site in italy as we could only have 10 nights and we would have liked to stay a bit longer

Hi Dave

I'm still searching for anyone who has been to Pra delle torri I can't even find any on the net, should we be worried? I'm also looking a Bella Italia on Lake Garda a few people have been there and it has had good reviews.  We don't fancy the drive we only have the 2 weeks and I don't want to spend half of that in the car not with 2 boys!

Hi,

We went to Pra Delle Torri.

It was 3 or 4 years ago, but we have always meant to go back.

The site still sends us a Christmas card (with latest rates).

It is a huge site near Caorle, (but it didn't feel big) the site has an hotel, bungalows, and various pitch sizes.

The site is planned around a central shopping area with fountains,  restaurants and bars.

It had an integral golf course at the entrance to the site.

Entertainment was laid on each night

Its is right on the beach and you can walk along the beach to the nearby town.

We travelled down from Calais through Germany and Austria. The Italian motorways certainly save fuel when you see the spectacular scenery you travel past. Worth the tolls.

Hope this helps

George

George,

Thanks for that info.  Don't know why I didn't do this before but have searched for their website and here it is:-

http://www.pradelletorri.com/en/home.html

Must say it looks very good.  Seriously thinking about this now - just don't fancy the drive so may consider flight and hire car.   This site is also in the Canvas brochure.

Dave

Dave,

We stayed on a couple of "Aires" with the caravan on the way down. Took our time to get there.

We took three weeks holiday used a week going and coming back, made it part of the holiday. Then spent two weeks at the site.

I remember they do various coach trips from the site. We did the Venice one.

I suppose with cheap flights its hardly worth the travel now!

George
