We go with Brittany ferries ( overnight ) Portsmouth -- St Malo, but its not cheap.

At the moment you can book Norfolk Lines, using the code TEF04 - and get a discount, but this is Dover to Dunkerque - lots of people have paid £58.00 return for car and caravan.  

I don't imagine any of the ferry operators will be offering £99 to St Malo - nearer £500 I would have thought.

You can do Poitou Charente by setting off from Dunkerque - then Abbeville, Rouen, Le Mans - and the head wherever you're going, but it's a lot longer run then from St Malo.

Try Condor from Portsmouth to Cherbourg instead. Only goes on Sundays and this year cost £104 single with caravan going free and reclining seat. Takes 4 hours.

I have contacted Condor but they haven't scheduled their crossings for next year yet.
