Driving in France is great, far better than here in the UK, although having driven to the centre of Paris, I have to say that experience is a little special, but not quite as special as the day had driving in and around Turin, never again thank you!.
You'll love it! Honestly, you'll wonder why you never did it before. Though if you're camped on the outskirts of Paris it's perfectly ok to wimp out and take the train into the centre.
You soon get used to it and by the time you get near to your destination you will be more familiar. Driving nearer to Paris is more demanding simply because there is more traffic but still no more difficult than th M25!
we love going to France and usually end up in Brittany, this year we did a bit of a tour that took in France and Spain which meant we went round Paris and even with the sat nav we found it difficult (due to long tunnels, unexpected exits on the left) but we got there in the end. Enjoy your trip.

If you don't have to go into central Paris then don't! Otherwise driving in Paris is no problem: that includes the péripherique - you just have to make sure that you're in the outside lane at the Porte where you exit! This is a matter of reading the map and knowing where you are - switch the satnav off if you have one!
Francais - Turin, nothing - have you tried Florence
Driving in Paris is not a problem. I'd sooner drive in Paris than London, Birmingham or Manchester! If you're really bothered Park just inside the Péripherique and go by Metro.
What campsite are you stopping at? is it the Bois du Boulogne site nr the centre or are you stopping outside? If outside, find a site within walking distance of a railway station & train it into the centre.
You can camp right out in the countryside with an easy drive from Calais & still be half hour by train from central Paris.
We drove in France for the first time this year and found it to be very easy. We did, however, go into Paris by mistake (accidentally came off a slip road that led us through the middle of Paris, not once but twice). I've got to say we were a bit (big bit) overwhelmed but we managed to get back onto the motorway. My advice would be take a sat nav (we would never have gotten out of Paris without it) and dont panic. If you get lost and find yourself getting overwhelmed just stop at the first available parking place and gather your thoughts - then do what we did and laugh yourself silly!!!!!

Dont worry and look forward to your holiday and dont be afraid to ask any questions on here remember the only stupid question is the one you dont ask.
a wee tip i got for driving on the wrong side of the road was to stick some tape around the right hand side of my steering wheel and i still do it to this day so as soon as im in drivers seat i see the tape and know to drive on the right then i come home and drive on the right aswell lol
Only thing to remember is.... merge in turn and own the road. Paris is fun to drive in, France is easy. A good SatNav is a bonus as trying to work out which exit you want can be hard.
we were in France last week, and got caught up in outskirts of Paris traffic.
OMG ! policemen on motorbikes blowing whistles, tonnes and tonnes of people on mopeds / bikes swerving, and going up on the pavement etc, people not caring about red lights, lane hopping like mad
