We are considering booking 2 weeks at Le Lac de Chalain Campsite in the Jura region of France and are wondering if anyone who has been there already can advise on the dreaded mosquitoes?
Reading reviews from other campers who have stayed on other sites in France alongside lakes, it seems to be a problem!
Many thanks, Catherine

Can you remember where abouts you were on the site? We wil have a tent and are looking at Allee Berlioz or Allee Bach which currently have free pitches. Do you think this is the best area from your experience? We have two young boys so need to be able to see them as much as possible but also not be too far away from loos etc.
We stayed there last summer on a 'lakeside pitch' though we couldn't actually see the lake from our pitch! The mosquitoes were out in force some evenings and then none on others - nothing to worry about really, just take some mozzie spray.
If I were you though I would chose a pitch away from the lake as they are much larger (if you look at the map with the lake being at the top, the largest pitches are on the far right hand side).
Lovely lake but nothing to do in the surrounding area (unless you are keen cyclists or walkers), a long way from the nearest large supermarket.

Thank you so much for the advice. We have 2 young boys and hopefully all the entertainment we need on site to keep them occupied for a full 2 weeks. Hopefully we might actually get a rest too!
I am just about to book!
