Even with 10% off the crossing we wanted would be £540, going via dover the cost of overnight stop, fuel and tolls is £225 its cheaper to go via dover and have a stop over, LD Lines have become just as bad as Brittany ferries, sorry its will be a long time before we use them again.

We looked at the tunnel (with tesco vouchers) and I have a lot of sympathy for your view.

My company lets me buy/sell leave by the day, so the economics worked the other way around for me.

I think the cheapest western route will be Condor, but the times aren't terribly convenient.
