Whats the name of the campsite, or am I missing something? Biarritz and Bidart are places!

Stayed close to this site but not heard of it before today.  Nice area well worth going into the pyranees.  The tide can be very strong and good for surfing.  Sorry cannot help mush more.

Regards Bob

Hi, stayed at Bidart some good few years ago at Camping Le Ruisseau, which is now much bigger than it was then. Lots to see in the area, paricularly if you like beaches. Bayonne was fascinating, St Jean de Luz was attractive with good restaurants, and up the funicular railway in the Pyrenees foothills a good day out. Sea can be calm but alos wild - hence the surfers. It's a long drive from the ferry ports. We stopped in Saumur on the return journey having foolishly done it in one very long trip going. Not sure if this helps but have fun!

Hi

Not been on the site, but it looks like you can have all you need for a holiday on site. Roads around Bidart/ Biarritz/St Jean de luz in high season are very congested. progress is possible, but it's not inspiring to wander around by car. But no worries if you have everything on site. Sites of all shapes and sizes get fully booked July/August. I know, cos last year I spent a day trying to get in "on spec", with a van in tow, it was a bit fraught.

Anyway, if you do fancy a day out, and like the touristy bit, I would commend around Ascain/Sare, and on into the mountains. Very Basquaise, not surprisingly, and you may catch a game of pelota even. Food is superb.

Le pavillon royal is great site if you want direct access to the beach. (  lilfeguards on hand and needed too.) not cheap but friendly and a supermarket nearby for cooling down in at midday.
